There are many definitions of successa"and in the world of pop music, there have been many success stories told of artists who have gone on to become legends in their own time.

One such artist is Peter Noone, lead singer of the group Hermanas Hermits. As "Herman", the British-born Noone completely dominated the recording and concert scene, theater and television. The consummate teen idol of his generation, he started out as a child star on British television before joining Hermanas Hermits and launching his career in music. With songs like "Mrs. Brown Youave Got A Lovely Daughter," and "Iam Henry VIII, I Am," Hermanas Hermits outsold every recording act in the worlda"including the Beatlesa"in 1965!

"Thereas A Kind Of Hush (All Over The World)," "Iam Onto Something Good," "Wonderful World," "Listen People," "Leaning On The Lamp Post," and "Silhouettes," are just a few of the groupas other worldwide hits. And in a career that seems to defy both time and age, Noone just keeps getting bigger and better. After selling over 52 million records, having 20-plus Top 20 hits, and being named the highest grossing act and one of the biggest sellers in the world for two years in a row (in 1965 and 1966), Peter Noone is still going strong.

In the last three years, Noone has appeared all across the US, and performed two 75 date sold-out concert tours (in 80 days), of the British Isles, ending with two sold out shows at the London Palladium.

This March, he comes to Manila for two shows, entitled "Hermanas Hermits Starring Peter Noone: Live All Over The World." Show date is March 17, at 8 p.m. at the Araneta Coliseum, with a dinner show to follow on March 18, also at 8 p.m. (dinner at 7 p.m.). Tickets for the Araneta Coliseum show are priced at R2,500, R2,000, R1,200, R500, and R250, while for the dinner show, tickets are at R3,500 per person.

The shows will give Filipino fans, particularly fans of 60s pop music, the chance to appreciate, up close, the kind of multi-dimensional artist that Peter Noone is. For Noone is clearly no ordinary artist. Aside from his success with Hermanas Hermits, he has made more than a thousand television appearances, three major motion pictures, starred in two Broadway shows, and has graced the cover of every major magazine, including TIME. The New York Daily News named him "King of the 60s on the Internet" for the two websites, peternoone.com and hermanshermits.com, both of which he created.

He is still actively performing as well, with about 200 sold-out concerts a year. Together with Hermanas Hermits, he has performed on practically every continent and is currently busy touring North America, the UK and Asia.

As an article on him put it, "There is no doubt that Peter Nooneas extraordinary talent, disarming wit, handsome features and compelling stage presence will continue to delight fans of all ages, for a long, long time to come."

GMA 7as digital film

premieres at Robinsons

Digital films are truly becoming more than just a trend in the movie industry. Ever since the first Cinemalaya Digital Film Festival was held, most local films are now done through digital technology, which by the way, is much, much cheaper.

The latest to join the bandwagon is GMA- 7, one of the two biggest networks in the country, which has produced a digital film meant for mainstream viewing. The movie, a trilogy featuring GMA Artist Center talents as well as top dramatic actors, will premiere today, March 10, at 7 p.m. at the Cinema 2 of Robinsons Movieworld in Robinsons Galleria.

The first in the trilogy, entitled "Kulam," was written and directed by Rahyan Carlos. "Kulam" tells the story of star-crossed lovers Edwin and Tinay and how witchcraft was used by their feuding families in order to bring suffering to the couple. Mark Herras, Ryza Cenon and LJ Reyes of Starstruck fame, together with theater greats Robert SeA±a and Isay Alvarez star in the movie.

The second, "Siklo," recounts the story of Angel, a victim of domestic violence, how her life alters as she joins a support group and meets a new set of people, each with his own colorful story to tell. This movie is written by Rahyan Carlos, directed by Soxie Topacio and features Mike Tan, MC Montirola and veteran actress Chanda Romero.

The third part of the trilogy is a masterpiece by father and son tandem Peque and Wanggo Gallaga. Entitled "Lost and Found," it is an offbeat, quirky comedy about missing persons and the strange and bizarre things you can discover about the people close to you during stressful moments. CJ Muere and Michael Garcia are introduced in this film.

'Sandara Park: Is she

really the aLucky One?a

"Stop what youare doing."

This was the plea that Korean actress Sandara Park has for her father Iksu Park. Her father has been estranged from her and family since 2004. And according to her, the heartaches her father caused her and her mother have made her feel that sheas not "the lucky one" after all.

Last December, the actress said she received a threatening letter (sent to YG, a talent management company in South Korea likened to Star Magic of ABS-CBN). It was allegedly a demand letter for her to pay her fatheras debts amounting to several millions (reports pegged it at R4- million) for which she was allegedly a coa"debtor. Her signature was also affixed on documents connecting her to the alleged debts. Star Magic wanted to write back to Sandaraas accuser but unfortunately there were no address and contact numbers enclosed.

"I miss a father but not him kasi noong bata pa ako kung lasing siya sinasaktan niya mommy ko," she revealed with lament during a recent interview for her Star Cinema film "Da Lucky Ones." "We have no communication anymore and I donat know where he is."

Sandara shared that when she was still in school, her father would give them money. It was because her mother was persistent with her fatheras responsibilities to them. But the money they received were just enough to pay their rent, tuition fees and as she described it, "pambili lang ng ulam." Her father stopped sending them money when she began her journey with the first "Star Circle Quest."

With regards to her showbiz career, she feels that time has changed since she took a vacation in her homeland and she lost her loveteam mate Hero Angeles. For her, showbiz now favors the first housemates of "Pinoy Big Brother." She also heard people tell her that sheas not as popular as before anymore.

Another one of her fears is her bid to transform herself into a mature actress despite her fans still wanting her to remain the same old "krunga"krung" theyave known since the first "Star Circle Quest."

"Siyempre I canat be akrunga"krunga forever. Someday I have to mature. I will also get married and have kids someday," she smiled. "Before

Maraming bagong lucky ones."

Competition has become stiffer for her that she is now working harder a" attending dancing and acting workshops and voice lessons. In "Da Lucky Ones" "I have to show them ang ibang Sandara. I really love acting and this is comedy pa," she said.

Sandaraas also considering breast augmentation from Dr. Vicky Belo but she admits she fears the procedure because "it might be painful."

"Dati ko pa gusto pero Iam still afraid...hindi naman siya importante pero ayung mga friends ko lagi ako niloloko na flata"chested ako," related Sandy.

Marrying a faithful man is now Sandaraas big wish. This is very important to a woman, as she has learned from her experience with her father.

In fact, having a broken family is the main reason she had to hide her sad story from her real-life love team Joseph Bitangcol. Culturally, itas not very respectable for a woman to talk about her broken family situation because people might think she would turn that way too in the future.

"Mahirap kasi sa Korea kapag hiwalay at may ibang pamilya...mahirap din mag-asawa kasi baka isipin din ng side ng lalaki na ganun din siya katulad ng daddy niya," Sandara opined.

So is Joseph Bitangcol faithful to her?

"Siguro paranoid lang ako dahil sa experience ko sa daddy ko. Marami ring lumalapit kay Joseph. Kay Joseph, ang daming nanliligaw, both gay and girls," she revealed.

Another lesson Sandara learned from the trials in her young life is keeping her privacy because as she pointed out during the interview, "hindi rin maganda kung alam ninyo ang lahat."

Directed by Wen Deramas, "Da Lucky Ones" is scheduled for an April 15 opening. Its theme song is Sandaraas popular song "Ang Ganda Ko."
