"The famous market of Amsterdam,"so it says in the trams that pass by the Albert Station. I walked rather early in the morning before the stalls opened although I witnessed little stalls that sells bags, jewellery and a great deal of food. I really can't give a good judgement because I could not experience it to the fullest. But I'm sure you will!

Travel souvenirs mixed in with native seeds and bulbs, so proceed cautiously. At the north/west end of this market is one of the few booths that offers bulbs for shipment to North America (B Smit).

Compared to I like to unwind at the end with a nice glass of red wine at Cafe Daalder, for instance!
I enjoy taking my time exploring and finding new things. I purchase fruit, cheese, outerwear, shoes, blouses, t-shirts, and a lot more. After that, I go to The Church to see my preferred book sellers. I always succeed when I buy books on my career and pastime.

Extremely busy - get there early so you can see. Lovely to see the tradition of the cheese market. A beautiful town to visit.

It is an average flea market. There are a lot of clothing items, some souvenirs, and a number of other things. Because it was near our hotel and on a couple of "top places to visit in Amsterdam" lists, we visited. It was okay. There was nothing we wanted to purchase, but we did find a nice restaurant on the same square.

The Markthal in Rotterdam is very close to Blaak station which is served by trams and buses as well as the Metro for the local area. There are also trains further afield from the NS station to local areas and Inter City trains taking you further afield. If you cannot get a direct train then it is only one stop to Rotterdam Centraal which had many other destination opportunities.
The Markthal is an amazing piece of architecture and there are a wide variety of food stalls selling many different things to eat as well as other stalls and shops.

The large open space is dominated by the old weighing station - pictured to the left of this review with its turrets and red doors. On most days there seems to be a few stalls - usually a grocer / vegetable stall and sometimes a fast-food van and a fish stall.

Lots of fun and very entertaining. Very busy and at times difficult to see. Go early especially if you need to park your car.

Enjoyable wander around the stalls with so much to see. And so many interesting things to look at. Very relaxed. A wide range of new, craft and old things.

A more authentic local market than some of the others. The aisles are very narrow, so it is hard to stop and look around. A great range of produce, although the traditional Dutch chips were missing the day we went.

As usual, the dominant feature of the Market Square is the Town Hall, which has been standing here since the 14th century. The building was rebuilt many times, burned down. The current Baroque-classicist look was acquired in 1670. In full accordance with the name, there is a market on the square. But not every day. On Wednesdays and Saturdays from 09.00. fruits, vegetables, flowers, clothes and cheese, so beloved by the Dutch, are sold at the market. The market closes on Wednesday at 15.00., and on Saturday at 17.00. But every Friday from 09.00 to 13.30 there is a market for organic products of local farmers. Holland is obsessed with ecology. I was here on Tuesday, so I didn't find any market. An empty square. The well house on the Hertogenbosch market is a reconstruction of the historic city well. There is a serious struggle going on around the well (or rather its reconstruction). It is then erected, then demolished, then restored, but not in its original form. Hieronymus Bosch, a great native of Hertogenbosch, looks at all this from a pedestal. There is an assumption that the great Dutch painter lived somewhere nearby in the XV century. The bronze statue of Bosch was installed in 1929 at the height of the Great Depression

The whole of Spuismarkt is a bit of a flea market, but the section set aside for art features local artists displaying the best of their works. Almost all of them are remarkable. But of course, some may appeal to you and others will not.
Local work by local artists is *exactly* what we wanted to bring home with us. Both as gifts for others and keepsakes for our home. We came *this* close to buying some jewelry. But the huge yellow poster by the painter known as Mr. Yellow called out to us more, and it now hangs on a wall in our home. We also bought several hand-carved gifts for our children, but the amazing hand-carved lizard on a tree stump ... oh no, I just can't figure out how to pack it safely into our luggage or carry it onto the plane. Well, there ya go ... local art is sold as much to local residents as to visitors. Our son would have LOVED it.
The Spui market has the art section, an amazing section dedicated to books and books and even more books. Plus the average local flea market.
But the most important feature of the art market--for travelers who are on a tight schedule--is that it's open on Sundays! Most of the markets are closed on Sundays.
