What payment methods can I accept with Tap to Pay on Android?
With Tap to Pay on Android, you can accept contactless debit and credit cards (Visa and Mastercard) as well as Apple Pay, Google Pay and other digital wallets. Please note that SumUp does not currently support American Express cards with Tap to Pay on Android.
Which Android phones are compatible?
To use Tap to Pay on Android you’ll need to be running Android 8 or higher. You’ll also need to make sure you’ve downloaded the free SumUp app.
Is there a transaction limit?
Tap to Pay by Android has a per-transaction limit of £100 when paid with a physical card. There is no limit when it comes to payments made with digital wallets.
How do my customers pay with Tap to Pay on Android?
Paying with Tap to Pay on Android is easy. All your customers need to do is hold their card, phone or smart device on the back of your phone until you hear a beep, notifying you that the transaction is complete.
How much does Tap to Pay on Android cost?
With Tap to Pay on Android, you’ll only pay a small transaction fee of 1.69% on each payment that you take with your phone—but there are no other setup costs, monthly fees or hidden charges.
When you're ready to accept a payment for an invoice, go to Invoices and select an invoice. Tap Add payment to choose the amount to charge, then tap Next. Select Tap to Pay and have your customer hold their card or NFC device to the back of your Android device.
Tap Menu, and then tap Settings. Swipe to and tap Reset app. Select the reason(s) you want to reset Samsung Pay, and then tap RESET. Next, enter your PIN or biometrics to confirm.
We should point out, though – you can only use Google Pay on devices that have NFC capabilities, as this is the tech that the app uses to make contactless payments. You can still use it to pay online without NFC, but not in person.

Common cases: You forgot to unlock your phone / turn on NFC. Bank side issues. You have not connected to the internet for several days, so your payment tokens expired.
Navigate to your device Settings > Connections > NFC and Contactless Payments. Toggle on Contactless Payments to enable. Toggle off Contactless Payments to disable.
Navigate to and open Settings. Tap Connections, and then tap NFC and contactless payment. Tap the switch to turn on the NFC feature on your phone, and then tap Contactless payments. Choose Samsung Pay, and then tap the Back arrow.
