VMware Data Services Manager supports MySQL and PostgreSQL databases, open-source relational database management systems (RDBMS).
VMware Data Services Manager supports multiple database versions of PostgreSQL and MySQL.
For information about supported versions, see Hardware and Software Requirements.
You can create, edit, manage, and monitor databases in VMware Data Services Manager. You can also clone, recover, and restore databases.
Database Clusters
VMware Data Services Manager supports PostgreSQL database clusters. Database clusters promote redundancy and help in business continuity. A database cluster that consists of a Primary database and one or more Replica databases enables manual and automatic promotion of a Replica database if and when a Primary becomes unavalilable.
Note: VMware Data Services Manager does not support replicas for MySQL.

How many databases can a DBA support? ›
The average database-to-DBA ratio is often constrained by the total size of the databases being managed, which tends to be around five terabytes per DBA. In other words, one DBA can effectively manage 25 databases of 200 GB each or five 1 terabyte databases. And these include production and nonproduction databases.
Is MyBatis still used? ›
MyBatis is one of the most commonly used open-source frameworks for implementing SQL databases access in Java applications.
What is MyBatis used for? ›
MyBatis lets you use all your database functionality like stored procedures, views, queries of any complexity and vendor proprietary features. It is often a good choice for legacy or de-normalized databases or to obtain full control of SQL execution. It simplifies coding compared to JDBC.
What are common causes of poor performance in databases? ›
Database performance issues are a common cause of web application bottlenecks. Most of these problems boil down to a lack of indexing, inefficient queries, and the misuse of data types, which can all be easily fixed. The challenge is identifying them before they reach production.
What are the 5 key factors for database performance? ›
Five factors influence database performance: workload, throughput, resources, optimization, and contention.

- Optimize your queries.
- Tune your indexes.
- Optimize your database design.
- Upgrade your hardware and software.
- Test and monitor your database performance.

What are the three major concerns in database systems? ›
Poorly designed databases can lead to numerous problems, including slow performance, data integrity issues, security vulnerabilities, and challenges in scaling applications.
Is it good to have multiple databases? ›
Some Advantages of Maintaining Separate Databases
This provides many options that would be impossible with a single database. A single database must be kept in a single installation. If the databases are separate, and there is a problem with one of them, then this does not necessarily affect the entire user community.
Does DBA need a database? ›
This requires a different set of skills and knowledge and a different approach to work. DBAs need to be able to work with different types of databases, such as MySQL, MongoDB, and Cassandra. They also need to be familiar with cloud-based tools and platforms, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure.
How many databases can run on a server? ›
It's more to do with the number of user connections, the query load & the size of the database. According to this SQL Server can have 32,767 databases attached to it.
