Why is my Venmo request not working? ›

Incomplete, outdated, or unverified account information

If you do not verify your account, your first attempt to use Venmo will decline. Additionally, Venmo could decline your payment due to an invalid bank account number. So, ensure the correct account number is input correctly.

Why is my payment listed as “Incomplete” or “Pending”? You sent a payment to an email address or phone number that isn't associated with an active Venmo account or that isn't verified.

Usually, these error messages indicate you're trying to do something in the Venmo app that isn't possible or isn't allowed. If you're trying to send a payment or bank transfer, make sure you haven't reached your limits by visiting our articles on payment limits and bank transfer limits.

PERSONAL PROFILE LIMITS

If you sign up with Venmo without verifying your identity, your weekly threshold for sending money and purchases is $299.99, while your weekly bank transfers are capped at $999.99.

Common causes of declined payments include insufficient funds in your bank account, incorrect recipient information, setting payment limits too low, and detecting potential fraudulent activity. Venmo customer support may also need to manually review declined payments before releasing the funds.
