You know what the most expensive real estate in the world is? It’s not in San Francisco, Hong Kong, or the Upper East Side of Manhattan. It's the six inches between your ears. Yet, so many of you – yes, you, the future titans of industry – are letting squatters occupy that valuable space. And for what? A retweet, an ignored text, or an office slight? Get real.
Stop letting people live rent-free in your head.
Listen, there's a limited bandwidth between those temples of yours. Every time you let a hater, a pessimist, or an irrelevant individual take up mental space, you are, in essence, taxing your cognitive capacity. You're stifling your own growth. This is a zero-sum game. Every bit of energy you waste on someone else's drama is energy you’re robbing from your own dreams and ambitions.
Brands like Apple and Amazon aren’t throwing shade at each other every day. Why? Because they’re too busy being game-changers in their respective domains. You think Steve Jobs was up at 3 AM stressing about what Bill Gates tweeted? Hell no. He was too busy reinventing the way we interact with technology. Be more like Jobs in that aspect.
Are you going to spend your time simmering over someone else's opinion or are you going to use that time to build, innovate, and progress? Remember, they're not paying rent, and they sure as hell aren't paying dividends on the time you invest in them.
Let’s break it down further. If your mind was a corporation, would you allow freeloaders to have a seat at your board meetings? Then why let them dictate your emotions and your daily narrative?
So, here's the playbook:
👌 Audit Your Emotions: Like any savvy businessperson, you need to regularly check your assets. Who's occupying your thoughts? Are they adding value? If not, it’s time for an eviction.
👌 Establish Boundaries: Not everyone deserves access to you. Protect your space. If someone or something isn't serving your well-being or goals, cut them off.
👌 Invest in Growth: Like any successful company, reinvest your profits. In this case, it’s your time and energy. Dive into self-development, pick up a new skill, network with those who elevate you.
👌 Embrace the Haters: Remember, if you’ve got haters, you’re doing something right. But don’t let them dictate your narrative. Learn from them, pivot if necessary, and then surge ahead with renewed vigor.
The world is brutal, competition is fierce, and your mental real estate is prime property. Guard it. Nourish it. And only let in those who add value.
Otherwise? Serve them an eviction notice. Because, class, the only one who should be living rent-free in your head... is you.

Yes. I have let some people and things into my head in recent times. I have decided to clear them out, focus on me and do what I want to do. And it's liberating. With other real issues in my life, I did not need to expend energy on this stuff.

Thanks for the reminder Brian! It's so important to be mindful of how valuable our mental real estate is and take control of what narrative we choose to dwell on.
