This requires a bit of dedication... and maybe a whole lot of coffee.
Specifically, the Advanced Iridium Rod allows you to use the best baits available and multiple tackles, which helps you to quickly and effortlessly catch fish. If you want to learn how to unlock and utilize the Advanced Iridium Rod, then check out the tips below.
How To Unlock Fishing Mastery
To unlock Fishing Mastery, and the Advanced Iridium Rod, you will first need to completely maximize all five of the skills in the game. Once all of these skills are completed, you can head to the Mastery Cave in the southeastern section of Cindersap Forest, just above the Sewer Pipe.
The five skills in Stardew Valley are Farming, Fishing, Foraging, Combat, and Mining. Each of these skills can be improved by completing tasks within their specific areas, such as mining for minerals to improve the Mining skill.
In this cave, you will find five different Mastery Plaques that were created by Grandpa, each offering powerful items when unlocked. To unlock the Fishing Master Plaque, you will need to continue to earn XP until you have completed the Mastery Bar, then head to the Fishing Mastery Plaque to earn your Advanced Iridium Rod.
How To Use The Advanced Iridium Rod
Unlike all the other fishing rods in the game, the Advanced Iridium Rod allows you to use two tackles at once. There are ten fishing tackles available, each offering various advancements and buffs while you are in the fishing minigame, such as seeing which fish is on the line or increasing the chance of a treasure chest to spawn.
If you are having trouble catching a particularly difficult fish, we recommend using two Trap Bobbers with the Advanced Iridium Rod. These Trap Bobbers make the progress bar decrease significantly slower when the fish moves out of the fishing bar, ensuring that you can catch even the most difficult fish.
Furthermore, the Advanced Iridium Rod can also utilize the Challenge Bait, which is also unlocked with the Fishing Mastery Plaque. Challenge Bait allows you to catch three of the same fish at once, but if the catch ever moves out of the fishing bar, then the amount of fish you can catch will be reduced by one.
