How do you play the game of squares? ›

Dots and boxes is a pencil-and-paper game for two players (sometimes more). It was first published in the 19th century by French mathematician Édouard Lucas, who called it la pipopipette. It has gone by many other names, including dots and dashes, game of dots, dot to dot grid, boxes, and pigs in a pen.

The object of the game is to form a square by joining four dots. When a player draws a line that closes a square, she writes her initials inside the square and gets a bonus turn. When all possible lines have been drawn, the player with the most initialed squares is the winner.

It's also very easy to set up and play. Gather a group of players and ask each person to pay a set amount of money to enter the game. Assign teams and score numbers to a 10x10 grid, then have players bet on 1 square on the grid. Whoever's numbers match the scores for each quarter wins!

The theme is that zero, seven and three are the best digits. Four is a solid fourth-best number.

Whoever has the correct digits of the final score wins the pot; For example, if the Chiefs defeat the 49ers 30-27, the winning square would be where the No. 0 on the AFC axis meets the No. 7 on the NFC axis.

Hollywood Squares (originally The Hollywood Squares) is an American game show in which two contestants compete in a game of tic-tac-toe to win cash and prizes. The show piloted on NBC in 1965 and the regular series debuted in 1966 on the same network.

Four square is played on any hard-surfaced court, such as wood, concrete or asphalt. There is no official court size, but typically courts measure between 10 and 30 feet (3.0 and 9.1 meters) on a side, and divided into four smaller squares labelled 1–4 of equal size. Rules vary, but there are two common objectives.

Each player choses a different colour of pen. Players then take turns to connect two adjacent dots with a line, either vertically or horizontally (NOT diagonally). If a player draws the fourth side of a box, they 'capture' that box and write their initials inside. If a player captures a box, they get another turn.

The secret is to decline the last two squares of every long chain of three or more squares. You will then win all but two of every chain, plus the whole of the last chain. This is just one example showing that Dots and Boxes is a much deeper game than many players realise.

There's nothing spooky, scary, or anything that'll jump out or grab them. Explain that people should put their hand inside each box to feel what's inside. After around thirty seconds, they should guess what the item inside the box is by quietly writing down the box number and their guess.

The board is a blank 20×20 grid. Starting in the corners, each player takes turns placing one of her pieces on the board. The only rule is that each player's pieces must touch another of its pieces at the corner, without overlapping sides. Players take turns until they can no longer make a move.

Any number that isn't the final (or right-most) digit in the score is irrelevant — all that matters is that the number in the bettor's square matches the last digit on the scoreboard. The catch is that both teams must match the selected square's score for the bet to cash.

A Scramble Squares puzzle is made up of nine square pieces such that each edge of each piece contains half of an image. A solution to the puzzle is obtained when the pieces are arranged in a 3×3 grid so that the adjacent edges of different pieces together make up a complete image.

We need to multiply the given number by itself to find its square number. The square term is always represented by a number raised to the power of 2. For example, the square of 6 is 6 multiplied by 6, i.e., 6×6 = 6² = 36. Thus, to find the square of single-digit numbers, we can simply multiply them by itself.
