Aunt Lou here.

Growing up Momma would make plate upon beautifully filled plate of homemade treats every Christmas for friends, family members and businesses that Mom and Dad dealt with closely. Unfortunately, I do not remember helping out near as much as I should have. (Have to hate that I missed out on some great memories during self-absorbed teenage years!) What I do remember is being in awe of all the beautiful candy and wondering why we didn’t get to keep more!

Momma spent hours slaving away to make those gorgeous plates of treats come together. At my previous job, many of the ladies brought in homemade candies to share in the community kitchen as well. They would speak of the hours upon hours they spent putting it all together.

Well ladies (and gents), add this Slow Cooker Bunch of Crunch Candy to your list of homemade candies this year. You will have an absolutely divine treat that is quick and easy to make. You can spend less time in the kitchen and more time enjoying the people you so lovingly make all these treats for!

Slow Cooker Bunch of Crunch Candy

Break your melting chocolate into small chunks and plate into your slow cooker on high for about an hour. Watch it toward the end and make sure your slow cooker isn’t running too hot.

I honestly don’t know how long mine was on for…I’m thinking somewhere between 45 minutes to an hour. You see…I used myHamilton BeachProgrammable Insulated Slow Cookerbecause the removable non-stick pan would make for easy clean up. I set my temperature to high and the time to one hour and walked away. I was in and out of the kitchen doing dishes, picking up the house, etc. Then I noticed that the house was quiet…too quiet…and a certain go-go gadget arm toddler wasn’t in the living room with me anymore. I walk in to find him on his tip toes having a hayday with the buttons on the front of my slow cooker.

Little booger. Praise God it is insulated!

As it happens, my white chocolate was just getting to the sweet spot (no pun intended…okay, maybe a little 😉 ). So I switched it over to warm and stirred in my peanut butter and almond extract until it became wonderful, smooth, creamy goodness.

The recipe said that the almond extract is optional. Ha! Not in this house! I highly recommend not leaving this out. It is perfect for this recipe. So much so that I am thinking I may do this again with almond bark instead of white chocolate!

Then I took a huge bowl…you are getting ready to mix together 12 cups of stuff, so grab the biggest bowl ya got!…and mixed up the cereals and mini-marshmallows.

Stir the dry mixture into the chocolate/peanut butter mixture a little bit at a time to get it all coated.

Next I laid out some wax paper and dropped onto it tablespoonfuls of this yummy concoction.

Then comes the hard part…you wait. It doesn’t take long for them to set up, but it sure does seem like it!

And here is the true sign that these are amazing…

Michael would rather have another serving of meat than dessert. Seriously, at a function I organized for my previous employer that had wonderful desserts, he took his dessert plate to the meat carving station…so embarrassing. But anyway, Michael (who is always on me about my love affair with sugar)raved about these and went back for seconds!
