If you bought an iPad 10th generation wifi only model (A2696) you cannot have a SIM card.
If you bought an iPad 10th generation wifi + cellular model (A2757, A2777, A3162) the nano-SIM tray is on the right side of your device, and you need to contact your cellular carrier to subscribe a data traffic plan.

If you need your iPad to stay connected on the go without being at the mercy of the availability of WiFi, then you will need to get a data SIM for your iPad. The iPad 10 (WiFi + Cellular) comes equipped with a SIM tray for a nano-SIM, so you will be able to stay connected on the go.
