In one place you said the packages were lost and in another you said they were damaged. If they were never delivered to the buyer, you should file claims for lost packages to be reimbursed.
Whether you are reimbursed or not, you are responsible for getting the items to the buyers in listed condition. If you don't, you owe them refunds. If you don't refund, eBay will refund the buyers out of your account.
Seller protection is for protecting you when the buyer claims a delivered package didn't arrive. It doesn't protect you for damage or loss in shipping. That's what you use carrier insurance for.
