For more than a decade, viewers who tune into Shark Tank know Lori Greiner as one of the famed entrepreneurs sitting in the room as folks try to sell her a stake in their products. While she's made a name for herself throughout her time on the reality show, she's been lucky to have her husband Daniel "Dan" Greiner at her side to celebrate her ongoing success.
The jewelry designer and her partner's love story spans over three decades, as the two met in the mid-1990s while she was a student at Loyola University. Per Country Living, the two met at a local sports bar and the rest was history. When writing about their relationship in her 2014 book Invent It, Sell It, Bank It!: Make Your Million-Dollar Idea Into a Reality, Lori briefly discussed what initially attracted her to Dan.
"He’s cautious — not at all the type to push the envelope," she wrote. "And yet, in this instance, he was on board from the minute I told him about my idea."
As for what her idea was, Lori wanted to create a jewelry organizer that was made from acrylic plastic. When she presented the concept to her new husband, she came prepared with a sketch that Dan encouraged her to draw as a means of an example. He not only supported her innovative product, but he stood at her side as she took out a $120,000 against their house for the ability to manufacture it.
While business can be a deterring factor in a marriage, Lori's financial aspirations didn't stop her and Dan from getting closer. When she later launched her QVC show Lori Greiner's Clever and Unique Creations, orders from her jewelry organizer went through the roof and the two worked together to make sure each one was filled.
What's more, the business grew so large that Dan eventually left his job as a controller at a manufacturing company to become the vice president of Lori's business For Your Ease Only.
"I am amazed at their relationship," one employee told Crain's Chicago Business in September 2009 of the duo's working relationship. "I love my husband, but I'd kill him if I had to be with him 24/7."
Despite Lori being in the public eye, she manages to keep her romance with mainly Dan out of the spotlight. Nonetheless, she still marvels at how well they work together, both in business and in their personal lives.
"Dan is a numbers guy; I’m the inventor," she concluded in her book. "That’s why we’re a perfect team."
If this isn't the perfect love story, we don't know what is!
