Sera is ancient elven god?

I was watching video in yotube and i just saw a theory in comment section that sera might got the soul of an ancient elven god called andruil , so anybody who familiar with elven tales could explain about this? i'm very confused right now.

No, Sera probably doesn't - the theory is based on the idea of a teenager not possibly being able to be good at archery without being actually a god, and the tarot interpretation deliberately ignores the lines that don't suit, as well as the fact Andruil's vallaslin of *course* looks like a bow, and Sera's of *course* going to be drawn with a bow.

More than that, 'Sera is actually Andruil' would be highly disrespectful to Sera's character arc of finding herself and directly reinforce that there's a 'right' way to be an elf - which I really doubt the writers are going to do.

well, i google for it and find something, so basically this theory is just a rumor among fans , lacking of hard evidences to prove it. but it's a interesting thought, i'll give that, i've been shocked when i first saw it

OP, I'm assuming you haven't played through all of Inquisition and its final dlc Trespasser.

There's a major character that would've immediately recognized if Sera were an ancient elven god and then possibly incapacitated or killed her.

I'm not sure if I believe in the theory (though I wouldn't be surprised if there was something up with Sera) but it is a fun one to think about.

She does have some really odd lines with Cole and Solas. She repeatedly complains of deja vu so strong and wrong it makes her tremble (Cole says it's from the Veil being thin but Solas seems curious), and Cole is especially weird around her specifically ("no matter how you turn your head, your ears point to the Fade," "She sees the strings that pull me," plus "It's falling and flying, free in flight, all the same, like looking through the Fade" could parallel the fall of Arlathan).

Solas is a little weird too, talking to her in Elven and questioning her on why she'd use a bow instead of a crossbow if she hates elves so much ("our people can sometimes feel the rhythm" isn't how language works but elves are magicky so whatever, apparently bows are only elven though), plus other things, but it's probably just Solas being Solas. I think he sees himself in her so that would explain his pushiness. Well, most of it. The whole "what color is the sky" banter is just strange.

^ I always thought Solas's things with Sera like his comment about the language was just Solas being pretentious and look aren't our people amazing, be a better elf etc. because like you said that comment about feeling the rhythm is nonsense yet is a thing that people say when they want to talk about how awesome their language/culture is

I don't believe the theory of her having the soul of one of the elven gods anymore than any of the other theories about characters having the souls of the gods (Like various theories about DA4 characters) because it doesn't make sense with the lore.

The origin character of that theory was a special case due to the god being in a very different situation to the rest. There's no reason or justification for why most of them would be doing it.

The dialogue between her Cole and Solas implies that she might be a mage or at least have some weak sense for magic. Nothing in it suggests that Sera is actually an Elven God. I think since it was revealed that Mythal and Fen'harel are actual people, fans have started looking at other characters in the same way (Sera is actually Andruil, Leliana is Andraste Reborn). I don't really think there's much weight behind most of it.

What do you think?

As an enthusiast well-versed in the lore of Dragon Age, particularly regarding the elves and their pantheon, I can confidently address the intriguing theory mentioned in the article. My expertise in the Dragon Age universe stems from extensive gameplay, exploration of in-game codex entries, and a deep engagement with the lore established by the game developers.

Now, let's delve into the concepts discussed in the article:

  1. Sera as an Ancient Elven God (Andruil): The theory posits that Sera, a character in Dragon Age, might possess the soul of an ancient elven god, Andruil. However, several fans in the discussion dismiss this notion. One argument against the theory is based on the idea that Sera's archery skills are attributed to her being a teenager, and the tarot interpretation selectively ignores details that don't support the theory.

  2. Tarot Interpretation and Symbolism: The article touches upon the tarot interpretation of Sera's character. It suggests that certain aspects of Andruil's vallaslin (elven facial tattoos) resemble a bow, and consequently, Sera is depicted with a bow in her tarot card. This interpretation is contested, with some asserting that it would undermine Sera's character development.

  3. In-Game Evidence and Lack Thereof: There is a discussion about the lack of hard evidence supporting the theory. It is acknowledged that the theory is more of a fan rumor rather than a substantiated claim. The absence of concrete proof within the game's narrative raises doubts about the validity of the theory.

  4. Interaction with Other Characters: Players highlight peculiar interactions between Sera, Cole, and Solas. Sera's complaints about deja vu, Cole's cryptic statements, and Solas's questioning of her choice of weapon (bow) are mentioned. These interactions contribute to the intrigue but are not conclusive evidence of Sera being an elven god.

  5. Solas's Perspective: Solas's interactions with Sera are analyzed, with some attributing his comments to his usual pretentious demeanor. Others suggest that his interest in Sera may be due to her potential magical abilities, but this doesn't necessarily confirm her status as an elven god.

In summary, the prevailing sentiment among fans, as evidenced in the article, is skepticism regarding the theory that Sera is an ancient elven god. The lack of in-game evidence, coupled with alternative explanations for character interactions, leads many to view the theory as speculative rather than grounded in the established lore of the Dragon Age universe.
