Why am I getting message send failure? ›

If your message failed to send, it could be due to a poor network connection or a problem with your service provider. Other factors, like a full inbox or a recipient blocking your number, can also prevent your message from being delivered.

To fix an Android that won't send text messages, try restarting it or checking for updates. Check if you've been blocked by the recipient, or if your carrier is having network issues. You can also try clearing the messages cache or making sure your SIM card is installed properly.

If you're in an area with low signal strength or experiencing network outages, texts may be delayed or not received at all. Airplane Mode or Do Not Disturb: Make sure your phone is not in Airplane Mode or Do Not Disturb mode, as these settings can prevent text messages from coming through.

Consequently, when troubleshooting why your messages are not sending to one person, it's essential to consider potential network challenges on the recipient's end as well.

Network Issues: Either your network or the recipient's network might be experiencing issues. Ensure both of you have a stable connection. Blocked Number: The recipient may have blocked your number, which prevents your texts from being delivered.

It is possible that the contact you're sending messages to has turned off their phone's ability to receive SMS. While SMS is common in the U.S., in other areas of the world, platforms like Whatsapp and Telegram are more widely used. If the SMS setting is deactivated, your messages won't be delivered.

Delete the contact and add it again. Check if you blocked them. Verify that their phone number is correct. Check if you need to specify a country code (e.g. +1 for US numbers).

Restart your iPhone or iPad. Check your network connection. To send a message as iMessage or MMS, you need a cellular data or Wi-Fi connection. To send an SMS message, you need cellular network connection.

Manually clear out the Messages cache.

There may be times when the wireless carrier or their hardware is having technical difficulties, which can prevent messages from reaching your contact's phone.

Make sure your phone and computer are connected to the internet with a strong signal. If you have connection problems, restart your phone. Make sure your phone has background data turned on for Google Messages.

Check for Blocks: Ensure that Message Blocking or Family Allowances aren't preventing messaging on your end or the recipient's. Clear Cache and Reset Network Settings: For Android, clear the app cache and data for Messaging. For both Android and Apple devices, reset the Network Settings.
