Scarlet & Violet's Best Order To Take On Titan Pokémon (2024)

Summary

  • Klawf, a Rock-type Titan, is an easy battle and can be found in South Province Area Three.
  • Bombirdier, a Flying and Dark-type Titan, is weak to Electric-type moves and is in West Province Area One.
  • Orthworm, a Steel-type Titan, requires chasing around to battle and is in East Province Area Three.

There are a total of five Titans in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, giant Pokémon that have grown to enormous size thanks to the power of Herba Mystica. They are encountered during the Path Of Legends, one of Scarlet and Violet’s multiple storylines. But while Scarlet and Violet are technically open-world games, there is still an ideal order to fight the Titans in.

The beginning of the Path Of Legends is clearly signposted for the player by Arven, who urges the player to follow him eastwards out of Mesagoza. This points players in the direction of a low-level encounter that is ideal for learning the basics of a Titan battle. However, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s structure poses a problem for more explorative players, as the Titans all have fixed but hidden levels in their initial encounters. This can make any subsequent Titan anything from disappointingly weak to overwhelmingly difficult, depending on when they are battled, making planning ahead critical.

Klawf, The Stony Cliff Titan Is A Massive Rock Crab

Klawf Is A Relatively Easy Fight With Many Weaknesses

The Stony Cliff Titan can be found in the South Province Area Three. Players will want to head west from Artazon and into the mountains. A bit before players reach the Lighthouse, they can turn right and they will find a large crab scaling the side of the mountain.

Players shouldn't be fooled by Klawf's crab-like appearance; the titan is a Rock-type Pokémon, not water. This means players will want to make sure they have some strong Pokémon that can hit rock's weaknesses: Grass, Water, Fighting, Ground, and Steel. This Pokémon isn't too strong, and thanks to its many weaknesses, it should be relatively easy for players to face.

Bombirdier, The Open Sky Titan, Is A Large, Intimidating Sea Bird

Bombirdier Isn't As Scary As It Looks As Long As Players Bring Electric Pokémon

Scarlet & Violet's Best Order To Take On Titan Pokémon (3)

The Open Sky Titan is located in West Province Area One. Players will find Bombirdier high up on a cliff near the sea. If players head north from the WPA1 Central Poké Center, they will receive a call on their Rotom Phone telling them they are close to the Titan, and they will be given an approximate location on the map.

Bombirdier is a Flying and Dark-type Pokémon, so players will want to have Electric-, Rock-, or Ice-type moves to counter its Flying-type or Fairy to counter its Dark-type. Arven, who fights Bombirdier with the player, has a Nacli, which is helpful for using Rock-type moves. Bombirdier has two flying and one Rock-type move, so players should avoid using Pokémon weak to those types.

Orthworm, The Lurking Steel Titan Is Elusive

Players Are Forced To Chase Down Orthworm To Battle It

The Lurking Steel Titan can be found in East Province Area Three. Players should travel the road between Zapapico and Levincia. Once they get close enough to the Titan, they will get the usual phone call giving its more precise location.

Unlike previous Titans, players will need to chase Orthworm around a bit before they can actually finish battling it. After the first half of the encounter, it will pop up around the area in tunnels, and the player will need to track it down before cornering it in a cave. Orthworm is a Steel-type Pokémon, so the only weaknesses it has are Fire and Fighting.

Versions Decide If The Quaking Earth Titan Is Great Tusk Or Iron Treads

These Are The Only Titans That Differ Between Games

When players are ready to face the Quaking Earth Titan, what Pokémon they face will be determined by which version of the game they have. Scarlet players get Great Tusk, an armored mammoth-like Pokémon. Violet, on the other hand, has Iron Treads, a large metallic beetle. Regardless of version, these Pokémon will be found in the Asado Desert.

Both Pokémon are part Ground-type, so players can't go wrong with bringing a Water-type Pokémon to this battle. Great Tusk is part fighting, so it is also weak to Fairy-type moves. Iron Treads is Steel-type, so Violet players will want to use fighting moves instead.

Dondozo And Tatsugiri Combine To Make The False Dragon Titan

Despite The Name, Tatsugiri Is Actually A Dragon-Type

To find the False Dragon Titan, players will need to be able to travel over water. This Titan is located off a small island in Casseryoa Lake. This fight is also a little different since it will pit players against two different Pokémon.

The first Pokémon players face is a large fish called Dondozo. Dondozo is a Water-type Pokémon, so players will want Electric or Grass-type moves to use against it. After defeating Dondozo, players will have to take on the much smaller Tasugiri. Tatsugiri is a Dragon- and Water-type, meaning its main weaknesses are Dragon- or Fairy-type moves.

The Best Order To Challenge Pokémon Scarlet & Violet's Titan Pokémon

Players Will Want To Battle Titan Pokémon By Ascending Level

The Stony Cliff Titan Klawf is undoubtedly the easiest Titan Pokémon to battle in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, as indicated by Arven and the fact it can later be caught at a humble level 16. Following from Klwaf, the next strongest Titan is the Open Sky Titan, Bombirdier, located in western Paldea at Level 20.

The Lurking Steel Titan follows at level 26, the Quaking Earth Titan at level 45, and finally, the False Dragon Titan duo offers the player battles at levels 56 (Dodonzo) and 57 (Tatsugiri). This order for the Titans allows players to tackle them from weakest to strongest. It also takes players all over Scarlet and Violet’s open world on a long and winding route.

In addition to giving the Titans a scaling threat for players to contend with, this order also creates a logical progression for the Herba Mystica. While they slowly heal Arven’s Mabosstiff, the potent herbs also empower Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s ridable Legendaries.

Following the optimal path for the Titans likewise places these mobility upgrades in a logical order, beginning with a simple dash and ending with climbing cliffs.

The Legendary also gains a powerful jump, followed by its gliding ability. This progression emphasizes the theme of strengthening and recovery paralleled by Mabosstiff. Although the Herba Mystica are remarkably unbalanced when used for sandwiches, the story they enable is quite poignant.

Despite Scarlet and Violet professing to enable an open-world adventure, the fact remains that every Trainer and Titan the player battles maintains a static level. Although this may lessen the appeal of free-roaming for some, it also means that players can chart an optimized route through Paldea. Ideally, of course, the Titans will be battled in conjunction with Gym Leaders and Team Star, although this can create a remarkably convoluted path. Nevertheless, the best order to take on the Titans is clear, both in terms of challenge and in contributing to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s incredible stories.
