The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office posted a scam alert on Facebook Monday warning community members of an active phishing scam.
According to the post, “the call will most likely appear to be from Apple, but it is a spoofed number, 800-275-2273, to appear legitimate, but it is not.” The caller will say there is a problem with your Apple account. This is a phishing attempt. Do not push any buttons and if you believe your identity has been compromised, call the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office at 608-637-2123 or your local law enforcement office.
