South African hedge fund industry assets increased by 30% to the end of 2022to R113bn in AUM, up from R86.9bn at the end of December 2021.
‘Seeing strong growth numbers for the industry is a welcome development and might indicate that hedge funds in South Africa are increasingly being accepted as an important investment tool in mitigating market volatility,’ said Hayden Reinders (pictured below), convenor of the Association for Savings and Investment South Africa (Asisa) hedge funds standing committee, during an Asisa media conference.
In addition,Reinders said that Lisps offer a wider selection of retail hedge funds, making them more accessible to investors.
