Tennis players at the French Open have the opportunity to win the title at every stage they pass, but also a bigger and bigger check. How much are these amounts?
All top sportsmen and women go home with a handsome bonus after a victory in their sport. In tennis, it's the performance that determines the amount ofprize money players receive. And the FrenchOpen, the only Grand Slam clay-court tournament, offers some of the highest prize-money sums, all the more so as the overall prize fund of 49.6 million euros in 2023 has risen by a further 7.82% to 53.478 million euros.
A record amount for the players who perform best in the tournament. However, since Covid, the prize money has been shared out among the players, and the winners are not the ones who benefit most. Even players eliminated in the first qualifying round will pocket 20,000 euros, and those losing in the second round 28,000 euros. Players eliminated in the final qualifying round will walk away with 41,000 euros. Significant sums, on which sportsmen and women are heavily dependent.
Namely, men and women win the same amount! And the winners are, of course, out of the competition, with 2.4 million euros for the men's and women's singles. In doubles, the pairs will share 590,000 euros after victory!
