We are seeking a Deputy Child Welfare Program Manager (Child Welfare Manager 1) to join our Child Welfare team in Saint Helens.

As a Deputy Child Welfare Program Manager, you will:

The Deputy Child Welfare Program Manager is a key member of the district management team and various statewide teams. They work actively to plan, organize, and lead activities to achieve ODHS’s mission. As a Deputy Child Welfare Program Manager, you will:

The Deputy Child Welfare Manager position provides support in ensuring that ODHS adheres to the intent of the federal law and state law regulating services to American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) children and families, the Indian Child Welfare Act of 1978, the Oregon Indian Child Welfare Act, and equity matters related to all AI/AN peoples. The Deputy Child Welfare Manager will case manage Child Welfare cases and American Indian/Alaskan Native children and families who have voluntary or involuntary involvement within DHS Child Welfare.

Experience working collaboratively with tribal entities, community-based partners and culturally appropriate service providers is essential for this position.

Oversee additional general Child Welfare (CW) Services like Child Protective Services, foster home certification, family reunification, planning, visitation, and adoptions.

Develop and lead vision and strategic plans to help local CW offices meet performance goals focused on child safety and permanency, ensuring fair service delivery.

Lead fiscal management, personnel and program management, community collaboration, service prioritization, handling complaints, and media inquiries.

Supervise six staff and approximately 40 positions through subordinate supervisors.

Participate in development short- and longer-term goals for the District and assist managers in the implementation of the goals.

What you need to qualify

(5) Five years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience

OR

(2) Two years of related experience and a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
