Lookin at upgrading some of my reloading equipment. Just wondered what are some of the things you have that make reloading more enjoyable, less time consuming, mundane tasks easier etc? Looking at possibly a RCBS autopowder dispenser, case prep center, flash hole trimmer, maybe a better mousetrap of a case trimmer. I have the regular hornady brass trimmer. Its a pain and made it worth going to AI just for the sake of trimming.

Forster co-ax press. Die changes are super fast, no shell holders to change, and great allignment.

I use a small lathe as a case trimmer. It isn't the fastest with my current setup, but I can't see wasting $ on a casetrimmer when I can put it into a much more useful tool.

For volume reloading I can't imagine being without a Dillon 550. 300-400 rounds/hr is very do-able, especially when just neck sizing rifle ammo. I much prefer Dillon's case polisher as well. Lee's auto prime for the stuff I load single-stage. 458Lott is right about the Co-ax press I don't have one, but I've used one a bit and it's an outstanding single stage press.

What are you upgrading from ?
OR better yet what bothers you the most about reloading.

If you don't have a good press get one, hard to beat a RCBs supreme for an all around press. If you've got one and your trying to feed an AR-15 or a 45 then a Dillon is the way to go.

Upgrading powder measures I find elec. dispensors take more time. The Scale however is a HUGE plus for safety.

I upgraded my RCBs scale to a Denver Instruments M123 scale, which gave me another decmial point of accuracy. I also bought a Harrel culver powder thrower not cheap but extremely accurate. Combined with the scale it's all good.

Trimming, what a pain - depends how much you have to spend here. You can use a electric drill with a possum hollow trimmer and really knock things out. If you've got too much money or again your feeding a AR then I'd go for a Giruad trimmer (not cheap but worth it if you hands get stiff)

A+++ on the auto prime, Imperial sizing wax.

I am running a rcbs jr press, old redding powder dump, lyman bar scale, hornady trimmer, rcbs concentricity tool, standard rcbs case chamfer, that is about all I can think of right now.

I suppose I could figure out how to make ammo without my Lee Auto-Prime. But I wouldn't want to.

Best part is, they are really inexpensive.

Partagas,

I would definitely get a autoprimer tool of one sort or another.

I had a case prep center but didn't find it much better than using a power drill with a kwick set to hold the debur and champer tool.

I'd recommend getting a electronic scale, and the auto prime to get the biggest bang for your buck so to speak.

After that the money starts getting larger.

I know people like them (them being autopowder dispenser/scales), but I ain't one. Have played with several makes and you can watch grass grow in the time it takes to dump 60grains of powder.......

Another vote for the Co-Ax press. Use one once, and you won't settle for less. However, it will not allow a collet-puller to be used, so hang on to your RCBS Jr.

BCR, "Mystery loads" make good fodder for fouling shots. I am one who does like the auto measure powder/scale combos. I use a Lyman 1200 II, and for the little bit of stick powder loading I do it's fast enough. I also find it very handy for working up new loads reletively quickly. It can be tedious to load more than a couple hundred at a time with the Lyman.

I'm partial to my RCBS case prep machine. I can deburr the flash hole, chamfer ID and OD of the case mouth and clean the primer pocket each time I pick up a piece of brass. It speeds things along nicely. I like the hand priming tools too.
