Yeah. Used to kill me having to use other cards cos they wouldn't accept AMEX. The bills would be for over a thousand bucks and we wouldn't even earn points!
This is great. Too bad it was after AMEX devaluation.mini2 on 11/04/2019 - 10:56

Thanks OP.
Also for those who aren't Ikea Family members (loyalty programme), this should stack with the $10 bonus you get for joining plus the 'spend $100 in a quarter and recieve a $10 reward via email'.
To get the $30 back from Amex and use the $10 welcome bonus I'd say you'd need to spend $160 in 1 transaction.
From the Ikea website:
The club that brings your ideas to life
Join our IKEA Family and you’ll be rewarded more than ever• $10 reward for new IKEA Family members
• Spend $100 or more in a quarter and receive a $10 reward by email

• Pre-book an extra 30 minutes weekday playtime in Småland

It takes few days for the spending from pending to confirm state. That's when they will validate the purchase against the card offer. That means if your last spending haven't confirm yet, you still can get the benefit of this offer.
(usually it takes 3-4 days from pending to confirm, so yes, you can spend first and add the Amex offer later)ExtraSalt on 11/04/2019 - 10:06

i dont think thats how it works mate…Once confirmed, your payment is still registered back to the original purchase….how wrong and confusing our statements would be if otherwise.

CAPTCHHHA on 11/04/2019 - 10:13
Excludes transactions where you do not spend directly with your Card to which the offer is saved, in-store at IKEA. Offer valid at Australian locations only. Excludes online purchases.
chocsyrup on 11/04/2019 - 10:30
I'm in Qld, so they're not near me.
I've spoken to AMEX on chat and it's only the three (Tempe, Rhodes, Marsden Park). I tried to argue that the T&Cs didn't match the offer, but she said that if she could only see those three (four), that's all there was on offer.
cantthinkofone on 11/04/2019 - 11:32
It doesn't say on the T&C that it's limited to those 3 stores? Only says not available online, so shouldn't it work for all physical stores in Australia? They've already specifically said only Australian stores.
chocsyrup on 11/04/2019 - 14:22
@cantthinkofone: That's what I thought and I tried to argue that point shrugs. For whatever reason, AMEX said it's just NSW.
Lucky there are people above who registered on all three of their cards without thinking they'll use it, so it's too late to register anyway..
cantthinkofone on 11/04/2019 - 16:01
@chocsyrup: I bet you if you go back to Amex online chat and talk to another rep they'll tell you a different story.

Yeah thanks to all the OzBargainers who sign up their multiple cards (just because they can) without any real intention of actually fully utilising the deal!
mini2 on 11/04/2019 - 10:53
Or tries to sell the offer in the classifieds. Probably not worthwhile this time round given it's $30 not $100+.
InfinityandBeyond on 11/04/2019 - 13:23
That's the way… someone who probably signed up 10 cards negs me for my observations (no doubt just to make them feel better about themselves and justify their actions)! :)
How often do you see it on this forum… people who buy multiple items / excess quantity just because it's cheap (not because they actually have a need for that particular product or service)!

inherentchoice on 11/04/2019 - 14:01
I'm surprised if they really already reached the maximum of 25,000. Where else did people hear about it - did everyone suddenly log in at once?
Was it from an email marketing campaign?
Or did people just see this page and login separately without clicking through?

Some Guy on 15/04/2019 - 16:47
Many people sign up via the Amex app (if they've been targetted) or via the Amex connect site or via other similar sites to OzB. Plenty of ppl have script bots to auto-sign up their multitude of cards.
