The iconic web series Red vs. Blue is about to close its final chapter. Just weeks following the shutdown of the production company that created it, Burnie Burns’ Rooster Teeth, Warner Bros. Discovery today announced that one of the internet’s longest-running series will end its 19th and final season with a full-length feature film. Red vs. Blue: Restoration will be released on several streaming platforms on May 7.
The film will be available for purchase May 7 from Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV, Google Play, Vudu and more. It will be available to rent digitally on May 21.
Matt Hullum will direct and Burns – who left Rooster Teeth in 2020 – is returning as lead writer for the upcoming final season to bring closure to a narrative spanning over two decades. You can watch a teaser above.

Red vs. Blue is a comedy web series set in the universe of the iconic Xbox video game franchise, Halo, where two teams, Red and Blue, engage in a perpetual conflict in a desolate canyon. Led by the bumbling Sarge and the cynical Church, the soldiers navigate absurd situations and misunderstandings with a mix of humor and sci-fi elements.
The film’s synopsis: “When the universe’s greatest villain returns in a terrifying new form, old adversaries, the Reds and Blues of Blood Gulch, will have to set aside their differences to save the galaxy one last time.”
Using machinima, the series gained popularity for its witty dialogue and innovative storytelling, attracting a massive fan base for its humor, character development, and community engagement.Over the years, it has evolved from a simple comedy series to a richly layered narrative, engaging viewers with its intricate plotlines and character development.
