Asian PulledPork
Can I tell you now that the originalreason that I wanted a slow cooker all those years ago was for making pulledpork in.
My mum had this magazine clippingfor Asian Pulled Pork and had medrooling over it. Up until that point I had never heard of pulled pork or Asianpulled pork.
About 18 months later I was giftedmy first ever slow cooker and the first thing I made in it was Asian Pulled Pork.
I made it again and again.
I then made it some more.
Eventually, it was perfect and ithas remained in my handwritten recipe book ever since.
Back then I hated BBQ sauce, soit was made with just delicious pulled pork and no sauce. It tasted fantasticand as it was never dry, it hit the spot.
But in recent months after been introduced to Bullseye Barbecue sauces, I have changed my Asian Pulled Pork Recipe, and this is it!
Slow CookerAsian Glazed Pulled Pork
To make myAsian Pulled Pork it starts off by making the Asian glaze that the pork shoulderwill be cooked in. This only takes me a couple of minutes to do and my 2 littlehelpers will always be around to join in the fun.
I recommend that you add a sticky layer of extra virgin olive oil between the pork shoulder and the Asian glaze. This will help the Asian seasonings stick to the pork and gives a much better end result.
You can also swap extra virgin olive oil for an alternative sticky glaze such as soy sauce or honey.

Asian Pulled PorkIn Slow Cooker?
My Asian Pulled Pork in the slow cooker is a delicious dump and go recipe. I add the seasonings directly into my slow cooker to save on washing up.
Then I add in the pork shoulder (aka Boston Butt), give it arub with some extra virgin olive oil and then rub the marinade into the porkshoulder.
It then follows the set and forget dump meal process. Whereyou return to the slow cooker several hours later to perfectly cooked AsianPulled Pork.
All you need to do after cooking is shred the pulled porkand load it with barbecue sauce if that is your thing.
But I also love it plain and without the sauce as its just as delicious.
Asian Pulled PorkDry Rub Ingredients
I love my kitchen cupboard as it is loaded with herbs andspices and it makes it so much easier when making Asian Pulled Pork as I don’t need to buy anything in.
I use the followingmix of dry rub ingredients and just throw them into the slow cooker:
- Cumin
- Chilli Powder
- Pork Seasoning
- Paprika
- Coriander
- Mixed Herbs
- Salt & Pepper

Notes
I always say that it feeds 4 if you are greedy or 5 if you want leftovers. I also have 2 fussy little ones and some days they don’t want to eat. Or it depends on what sides you’re eating it with. We served our Asian pulled pork with roast potatoes.
I have kept this Asian pulled pork marinade mild because I am feeding 2 under 5’s. But you’re welcome to increase the chilli powder if you prefer or add in some cayenne pepper.
You can use a small, medium or large pork shoulder. Our pork shoulders typically weigh between 1.5 and 2 kilos which is between 3.3 and 4.4 pounds.
