NIPR encrypts many of its services using the industry standard TLS (transport layer security) encryption. Sensitive data, including SSNs if required, received by NIPR is encrypted at rest.
NIPR also maintains access control procedures. NIPR restricts access to sensitive information to employees and contractors who need to know the information to do their job and are subject to confidentiality obligations.
