Want your medical expenses paid quickly and without hassle? Get speedy reimbursem*nt with Travelex’s primary coverage.
You never plan for anything to go wrong on your trip, but it’s important to be prepared for unexpected accidents and mishaps in case they do occur. In the event you sustain a severe injury or become sick and need to visit a medical facility, primary coverage can provide financial protection to help make the payment process quick and easy.
What is primary coverage?
Simply put, primary coverage is less complicated. Primary coverage refers to the order in which a travel insurance claim can be filed with your travel insurance provider. When your travel insurance plan includes primary coverage, your claims can be directly filed with Travelex instead of with your individual health insurance company. That means after visiting a hospital or medical facility, the bill you pay can be filed as a claim and reimbursed by Travelex - not your individual health insurer.
One of the biggest advantages of primary coverage is the speed of reimbursem*nt. You’ll typically receive reimbursem*nt on eligible losses first, before any other collectible policy. This becomes important when considering the time required for filing, processing a claim and how quickly you will receive your payment.
What does “no deductibles” mean?
If you purchase a travel insurance plan or a health care plan, the “deductible” refers to the amount you must pay out of pocket before your insurance provider begins to pay. For instance, if your travel insurance plan has a $1,000 deductible for medical expenses and you suffer an injury that costs you $2,500, you would have to pay $1,000 towards the bill yourself before your insurer pays a cent.
With Travelex travel insurance, you can receive primary coverage with no deductibles. So, in the instance you incur a $20, $200, or $2,000 hospital bill, you aren’t required to pay a deductible before your travel insurance plan kicks in. Instead, you would file a claim with Travelex to receive reimbursem*nt for medical expenses paid out of pocket.
Which travel insurance plans include primary coverage?
Travelex’s Travel Basic, Travel Select, Flight Insure, and Flight Insure Plus all feature primary coverage with no deductibles. While other benefits – and coverage limits – differ between plans, you will automatically receive primary coverage when you purchase one of these plans.
The Travel America plan features secondary coverage. Travel America can be a great supplemental medical expense option to help cover out-of-pocket co-pays and deductible expenses not covered by your primary medical plan.
