Fighting-type Pokemon may not be the most desirable, but they definitely have their uses in battle. They'll typically be the first port of call for anybody who's looking to counter Normal, Steel, or Dark-type Pokemon due to their immense strength and impressive bulk. Unsurprisingly, perhaps, this remains the case in Pokemon Legends: Arceus.
RELATED:
Unfortunately, however, most of the franchise's 900 or so Pokemon can't actually be found in the Hisui region, meaning that some players may be unable to rely on their favorites this time around. As a result of these omissions, the best Fighting-types in Pokemon Legends: Arceus are a little different than they are in other games, though they can still get the job done when push inevitably comes to shove.
5 Gallade
Gallade's Base Stats | |
---|---|
HP | 68 |
Attack | 125 |
Defense | 65 |
Special Attack | 65 |
Special Defense | 115 |
Speed | 80 |
Total | 518 |
Due to it being a Psychic / Fighting-type, Gallade has no weakness to Psychic-type attacks, which is one of the biggest drawbacks of a pure Fighting-type Pokemon. This interesting type combination also makes it resistant to other Fighting-type Pokemon, making it the ultimate counter for some of its powerful peers. Its high Attack stat favors its wide repertoire of Physical Fighting-type moves, while its 115 Physical Defense stat can also come in handy. Gallade is best with a Lonely or Naughty nature.
How to Get Gallade in Pokemon Legends: Arceus
Players can find Gallade inside the Snowpoint Temple in the Alabaster Icelands. Alternatively, they can evolve a Male Kirlia using a Dawn stone, which can be found inside space-time distortions or traded for Merit Points at the item exchange counter in Jubilife Village. Players can catch Kirlia and its unevolved form Ralts in the Shrouded Ruins area of the Crimson Mirelands as well as in the Heart's Crag and Snowpoint Temple areas of the Alabaster Icelands. Ralts evolves into Kirlia at Level 20.
4 Sneasler
Sneasler's Base Stats | |
---|---|
HP | 80 |
Attack | 130 |
Defense | 60 |
Special Attack | 40 |
Special Defense | 80 |
Speed | 120 |
Total | 510 |
One of several new evolutions introduced in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Sneasler is a bit of a mixed bag. On the one hand, its 130 Attack and 120 Speed stats make it deadly when it's attacking weakness. On the other, its defensive frailties are a cause for concern and its Poison / Fighting-type combination is far from ideal. Even so, Sneasler can still do a job in the right circ*mstances, particularly one that has an Adamant nature.
How to Get Sneasler in Pokemon Legends: Arceus
In order to get Sneasler, players will need to evolve Hisuian Sneasel by using a Razor Claw on it during daytime hours. Players can trade a Razor Claw for 1,400 Merit Points at the item exchange counter in Jubilife Village or dig one up using Ursaluna. They'll be able to catch Hisuian Sneasel in the Celestica Trail and Primeval Grotto areas of the Coronet Highlands and in the Avalugg's Legacy and Glacier Terrace areas of the Alabaster Icelands.
3 Hisuian Decidueye
Hisuian Decidueye's Base Stats | |
---|---|
HP | 88 |
Attack | 112 |
Defense | 80 |
Special Attack | 95 |
Special Defense | 95 |
Speed | 60 |
Total | 530 |
Having started out as the game's Grass-type starter, Rowlet eventually evolves into Hisuian Decidueye, a Grass / Fighting-type Pokemon. It's a Physical attacker with solid defenses and a respectable Special Attack stat to boot. Granted, it is a little on the slow side, but it should still have more than enough bulk to survive in the event that it does end up acting second. Hisuian Decidueye is at its best with a Brave nature.
How to Get Hisuian Decidueye in Pokemon Legends: Arceus
Hisuian Decidueye is the final form of Rowlet and evolves from Dartrix at Level 34. Players can choose Rowlet as their starter Pokemon at the beginning of the game or get one by speaking to the professor after beating the final main story boss. Completing the game will also cause Rowlet and its evolutions to begin appearing in space-time distortions, though only in the Coronet Highlands area.
2 Infernape
Infernape's Base Stats | |
---|---|
HP | 76 |
Attack | 104 |
Defense | 71 |
Special Attack | 104 |
Special Defense | 71 |
Speed | 108 |
Total | 534 |
Another starter Pokemon evolution, Infernape was among the very first to be given a secondary type. It's a Fire / Fighting-type Pokemon with access to some of the very best moves from both types and its perfectly balanced Attack stats ensure that players never need to compromise. It's also a fairly fast Pokemon, which bodes pretty well given its lackluster defenses. Players hoping to min/max their Infernape's stats should look for one with either a Naive or Hasty nature.
How to Get Infernape in Pokemon Legends: Arceus
Players can catch an Alpha Infernape on Ramanas Island in the Cobalt Coastlands region. Its unevolved forms, Monferno and Chimchar can be found on the island too, with the latter also showing up in the nearby Deertrack Heights area. Chimchar evolves into Monferno at Level 14 and Monferno evolves into Infernape at Level 36.
1 Lucario
Lucario's Base Stats | |
---|---|
HP | 70 |
Attack | 110 |
Defense | 70 |
Special Attack | 115 |
Special Defense | 70 |
Speed | 90 |
Total | 525 |
Lucario's stats may not be all that impressive on paper, but it does boast one of the best type combinations in the game. It perhaps lacks the kind of bulkiness that one might otherwise expect from a Fighting / Steel-type Pokemon, but it hits every bit as hard and has some great resistances and immunities too. As a result, Lucario is an excellent counter for the many powerful Dragon-types in Pokemon Legends: Arceus and can even hold its own against an un-plated Arceus thanks to its resistance to Normal-type attacks. This is especially true when it has either a Mild or Rash nature.
How to Get Lucario in Pokemon Legends: Arceus
Players can catch Lucario in the Icebound Falls and Snowfall Hot Spring areas of the Alabaster Icelands. Its unevolved form Riolu can also be found in the same places and can be evolved into Lucario during the daytime once its friendship stat is high enough. Players can use Riolu in battle, have it harvest materials and feed it EXP candy to speed up the process a little if they like.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus is available now for the Nintendo Switch.
