How to calculate pips on octafx? ›

One pip equals 0.0001 (four decimal places), and since most assets are priced out to four decimal places, pip is their smallest price unit. In more accurate 5-digit pricing, 1 pip is still calculated by the 4th digit (0.0001), and the smallest 5-digit unit (0.00001) is referred to as a pipette (equals 0.1 pips).

One lot is 100,000 units of the base currency. Mini lot equals 0.1 standard lots and constitutes 10,000 units of the base currency. Micro lot equals 0.01 lots and constitutes 1,000 units of the base currency. Direction is whether you plan to execute a Buy or Sell order.

How much is 0.01 Pips? This completely depends on the currency pair that you are trading. If you're trading the EURUSD, a pip is worth 0.0001, while with the USD/JPY a PIP is worth 0.01. A pip usually equals 0.0001 of a Forex pair, so 50 pips equals 0.005, 100 pips—0.01. If one pip is worth $5, 50 pips are worth $250, 100 pips—$500.

Gold pips are different because they are measured in increments of $0.01, meaning each pip movement equates to a $0.01 change in the price of gold. In this context, $1 corresponds to 100 pips. Understanding this conversion is crucial for traders to accurately calculate potential gains or losses.
