Both on-demand N26 Insurance and the phone insurance included with a premium N26 Metal or N26 Business Metal account covers the cost of repairing or replacing a smartphone if it’s stolen, malfunctioning, or accidentally damaged—including liquid damages—within the approved coverage limits for each policy.

How does N26 Insurance work?

On-demand phone insurance is offered in partnership with simplesurance GmbH and White Horse Insurance Ireland DAC to all N26 customers, except for premium N26 Metal and N26 Business Metal customers. That’s because phone insurance is already included with an N26 Metal or N26 Business Metal premium membership, with up to €2,000 coverage for theft or damages. To sign up for on-demand phone insurance, simply head to the ‘Explore’ tab in your N26 app and tap on ‘Smartphone insurance’ to get insured in minutes.

How much does phone insurance cost?

With on-demand N26 Insurance, you decide how to pay for your phone insurance. Either choose a yearly policy and pay upfront to get an attractive discount, or pay month-to-month from only €4.67/month. The exact price of your phone insurance will depend on the original price of your smartphone.

With a premium N26 Metal or N26 Business Metal bank account, phone insurance is included in the premium membership at no extra cost.

Which smartphones can be insured with on-demand phone insurance?

You can insure your smartphone with on-demand N26 Insurance if your phone was purchased in the last 6 months. You’ll need to confirm that your phone is fully functional and undamaged when you sign up for N26 Insurance. In order to file a phone insurance claim, you’ll need to show proof of purchase such as your original receipt, or other documentation that proves that your device was purchased brand new from a VAT-registered company in Europe. The document must include your date of purchase, the make, model, serial number and/or the IMEI number of your device.

What if I want to cancel my phone insurance?

You can cancel your phone insurance with N26 at any time. Simply open your N26 app and head to the ‘Explore’ tab. Tap on your active ‘Smartphone Insurance’ in ‘N26 Insurance’ section, and select ‘Terminate Your Policy’. Alternatively, you can email your termination notification to the N26 Insurance partner, simplesurance GmbH, at [email protected].

How do I claim phone insurance?

Whether you’re covered with N26 Insurance for smartphones or have phone insurance as a part of your premium N26 Metal or N26 Business Metal account, submitting a phone insurance claim is online, easy, and fuss-free. Make sure you have a proof of purchase on hand such as a receipt, and the police report you filed if your phone was stolen.

To make a claim with on-demand phone insurance, simply head to the ‘N26 Insurance’ section in the ‘Explore’ tab of your N26 app, tap on ‘Smartphone insurance’, then select ‘Start claim process’ to initiate your claim process with our insurance partner simplesurance GmbH.

If you’re an N26 Metal or N26 Business Metal customer, open ‘My Account’ in your N26 app and select ‘N26 Metal’ or ‘N26 Business Metal’. Go to ‘Allianz insurance coverage’, select ‘mobile phone’, and tap on ‘Start my claim process’ to initiate your claim with our insurance partner.

What to do when your phone is stolen

If your phone is stolen, immediately report it to your network provider so they can block anyone else from using it. To make a claim with your phone insurance policy provider, you’ll also need a police report of the theft. In case someone else has access to your stolen phone, we also recommend changing your password for any important accounts or apps. What if I can’t find phone insurance in my N26 app?

If you can’t find on-demand phone insurance in your app, please make sure your N26 app is updated to the latest version. Currently, on-demand N26 Insurance is only available to N26 customers in Austria, Belgium, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Spain.

Please note that if you’re an N26 Metal customer, you won’t be able to find on-demand phone insurance in your N26 app because phone insurance is already included in your premium membership.

When will my on-demand insurance policy begin?

Once you sign up with N26 Insurance, your on-demand insurance policy will be active from the following day.

Please note that if you sign up to N26 Insurance more than 14 days after you purchased your device, your device will be subject to a 4-week waiting period and you’ll be eligible to start making claims 4 weeks after your sign-up date.

What if I sign up for N26 Metal after I’ve purchased on-demand N26 Insurance for smartphones?

Your smartphone will then be covered by the phone insurance included with your N26 Metal premium membership, as well as the coverage provided by N26 Insurance in partnership with simplesurance GmbH and the insurer. Before you decide to cancel one of them, it’s a good idea to compare the different benefits of each policy in the insurance T&Cs documents. If you decide to cancel your on-demand N26 Insurance policy, you can do so at any time in your N26 app.
