Does hydrogen peroxide get rid of bugs? ›

Hydrogen peroxide is a potential bug repellent due to its toxicity to many bugs. A solution of 3% hydrogen peroxide mixed with water can be sprayed directly onto pests or in infested areas.

Windex – Windex is one of the most common and most effective DIY household products for pest control. Windex is toxic to most pests, especially spiders. Spraying window cleaner directly onto small insects like ants or mosquitoes will kill them within a few moments.

However, repeated use of DEET in very high concentrations can lead to toxic encephalopathy with severe neurological symptoms including seizures, tremors and slurred speech. The risk is higher for children since they have a greater surface area to body weight ratio.

The hydrogen peroxide simply burns that stuff off the plant, while keeping the plant in mint condition! This works on both the plant and the soil. Spray where needed, or just all over. Get rid of spider mites, thrips, slugs, the larvae of fungus gnats and other common nasty pests that eat your plant.

Hydrogen Peroxide is a Powerful Killer

When mixed with water to create a solution, the mixture can kill bacteria, fungi, viruses, and tiny mites living on garlic cloves. Garlic is susceptible to mites. The most common type of mite that attacks garlic is the bulb mite.

Hydrogen peroxide, like bleach, can kill bed bugs. But this tip has the same problems as using bleach: hydrogen peroxide is a bleaching agent, which means that spraying it will discolor (and ruin) your bedding, carpet, and other items in your home. There are definitely better ways to get rid of bed bugs!

Combine a 4:1 ratio of water and Hydrogen Peroxide 3% – Oxygen Plus in a spray bottle (60ml of Hydrogen Peroxide to 300ml water). Increase to 2:1 ratio if your plant can handle it. Reduce the treatment to once a week until finished. Lightly spray the leaves to ward off unwanted pests.
