The president of Panama has asked the country’s supreme court to strike down a proposed law that would authorise and regulate cryptocurrency.
Laurentino Cortizo had already vetoed an earlier version of the law in June, but the legislature passed an amended draft in October. The president’s office said that it believed two articles of the law were unconstitutional, and that the whole draft law is invalid on procedural grounds.
In his letter to the supreme court, the president’s office says the
