OneGold is an online and mobile based platform where users can buy, sell, and hold digital representations of physical gold, silver, and platinum. This digital approach is supposed to simplify the investment process and make it more accessible. It’s is a subsidary of APMEX, which is the leading E-Commerce retailer for precious metals.
So, I’ve been testing OneGold for a while now. As someone who’s familiar with the investment world and tested multiple apps, I found this app to be a straightforward tool for managing metal investments. Perhaps too straightforward. But if you are not very confident with investing, this app is a perfect introduction to precious metal investing.
One thing you will notice is that OneGold doesn’t have a huge variety of metals to choose from like some other places, but they do have the important ones like gold and silver (Swiss, UK, US, and Canadian mints). They leverage their relationship with APMEX to get their metals straight from wholesalers, so it seems like they can offer better deals than some other retailers.
I find their online portal and mobile app easy to navigate and to execute trades. And it lets you trade 24/7. You can also set up alerts for price movements, which I find helpful because I prefer to continually invest at certain prices rather than use their Auto-Invest feature. I just get notified when it hits the levels I’m looking for.
Overall, my experience with the OneGold app has been positive. It is incredibly accessible for beginners. If you’re looking to get into precious metals or even you’re already in the game, this app is a solid choice.
Here’s a quick rundown of my OneGold App Pros and Cons:
Pros:
- User-Friendly portal/ app
- 24/7 Trading
- Real-Time Market Data
- AutoInvest Feature
- No Account Minimums and Low Fees
- Physical Redemption options
Cons:
- Variety: Compared to some competitors, OneGold focuses on a narrower range of precious metals, primarily gold, silver, and platinum.
- Live Support Hours: Customer service is not available 24/7, although hopefully you shouldnt need it with how easy the platform is to navigate.
- Digital-First Approach: Investors who prefer physically handling their investments might find the digital nature of the platform less appealing.
