• Shortcut files excluded by default.New shortcut files (with.lnkextension)willnowbe excluded fromsyncingto the cloud. This change ensures thatusers’shortcuts, which are specific to the machine they were created on, will no longer cause issues such as broken or duplicated shortcutsacross machines.

• Improvements to folder backup opt-out experience. We are updating the behavior when users turn off folder backup. Users will now have the option to restore the files back to their original location. Note: when a folder contains files stored only in the cloud, those files will not be moved; they will remain in the cloud. Learn more

• Updated Files On-Demand settings on Windows. We are updating the OneDrive sync app advanced settings for Files On-Demand for users who have the feature enabled.The behavior change occurs for users who have Files On-Demand enabled. There is no change at this time for users that have the feature disabled from OneDrive settings or by adminpolicy.

• Updated experience for Office document conflict resolution. Previously, clicking the “Resolve” action on a conflict would require the user to choose between opening the file in the Office desktop app to merge changes or keeping both versions of the file (forking the document and appending the computer’s name to the forked file). After this change, the user can only open the document with a conflict in Office to merge the changes. The option to fork the document will be removed.

• Updates to Office File Collaboration Setting on Windows and macOS: We are updating the OneDrive sync app advanced settings for Office file collaboration. This settingisenabled by default and users will no longer be able to disable it from thesettings dialog. Admin policies will still be able to control the feature.

• Updated Folder Backup (Known Folder Move) wizard experience: We've updated the Folder Backup (Known Folder Move) wizard to better align with Windows experiences and make it easier for end users opting in.

• Automatic updates using .pkg installer. We will now use the .pkg installer instead of the .zip one for automatic updates. This will address some remaining bugs with Files On-Demand on macOS and prevent users from seeing an alert about OneDrive notifications every time we update.

• Updated experience for Office document conflict resolution. Previously, clicking the “Resolve” action on a conflict would require the user to choose between opening the file in the Office desktop app to merge changes or keeping both versions of the file (forking the document and appending the computer’s name to the forked file). After this change, the user can only open the document with a conflict in Office to merge the changes. The option to fork the document will be removed.
