Can obsidian be used as armor? ›

Obsidian armor is an armor set that consists of the Obsidian Outlaw Hat, Obsidian Longcoat, and the Obsidian Pants. A full set of Obsidian armor provides the following benefits: +15 defense. +31% minion damage.

It can be crafted after killing an average of 9 Creepers or 27 Eater of Worlds segments. Despite being made from Obsidian, this armor set grants no special protection against the On Fire! or Burning debuffs, whereas other Obsidian-related items do, like the Obsidian Skin Potion and Obsidian Skull.

It gives one less strength bonus than the fighter torso, and has worse defensive stats, but it is purchasable, which makes it a decent alternative for players not wanting to do Barbarian Assault for the torso. This item can be stored in the armour case of a costume room, as part of the obsidian armour set set.

This means that it will break easily, but can also be made extremely sharp. In fact, obsidian arrowheads and knives are some of the sharpest in the world.

The Obsidian Skull is an accessory that grants immunity to the burning damage normally inflicted by contact with Meteorite and Hellstone. It does not grant immunity to lava or other fire-based attacks. It additionally provides 1 defense.

Obsidian is relatively soft with a typical hardness of 5 to 5.5 on the mineral hardness scale. In comparison, quartz (crystallized silicon dioxide) has a hardness of 7.0. Obsidian occurs only where geologic processes create volcanoes and where the chemical composition of the magma is rich in silica.
