Nintendo Support: How to Use amiibo Figures (The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom) (2024)

Amiibo figures can be used in the game as follows:

• You will be able to scan compatible amiibo figures after you have unlocked the amiibo rune in the game (usually about 45 minutes into gameplay).
• You can use each amiibo figure once per day (per Nintendo Account).
• Scanning The Legend of Zelda series amiibo will provide you with helpful in-game items, such as materials, weapons, or themed paraglider fabric.
• You may need to scan the same amiibo more than once to receive any unique rewards associated to it.

Complete these steps

1. If you haven’t already, enable amiibo in the game’s settings:
   1. Press the + Button to open the Pause Menu.
   2. Navigate to the System Menu using the R Button.
   3. Select Options, then select the amiibo setting and Enable amiibo to unlock the amiibo ability.
   4. Press the B Button to exit the Options Menu, then again to exit the Pause Menu.
2. Once you have enabled amiibo, hold the L Button while playing the game to change the ability you have set.
3. Select the amiibo icon to set that as your current ability.
4. Once the amiibo ability is set, release the L Button to activate the ability.
5. A glowing indicator will appear where you can aim the amiibo. Aim the indicator where you want the amiibo item to land, then hold the amiibo figure over the Right Stick to scan it. The amiibo item will appear there.
   • Some amiibo items will only appear randomly. If you don’t get what you want one day, you can try scanning the amiibo again the next day.
