Will I lose save data if I change my SD card Switch? ›

On Nintendo Switch, game save data is stored in the console's system memory. This will not change whether downloadable software or software from a game card is being played. Game save data cannot be saved or copied to a microSD card.

What happens to my game progress if I archive or delete my downloaded software? The game save data is unaffected in either option, so you can resume your game progress once the software is redownloaded.

Formatting the microSD card will erase all of the data on it.

After 30 days, the Nintendo Account is permanently deleted from our files and cannot be restored.

Only a single email address can be linked to one Nintendo Account. If the email address you have entered is already registered, it cannot be used again. Alternatively, this can occur if you are trying to sign in with a Nintendo Network ID.

Once you've deleted the save file, launch Animal Crossing again and you'll be able to start over entirely. Resetting the game will erase everything, so make sure you want to start over before following the steps below. You'll lose not just your character but all of the items you've collected.

A child account can be created for any child under the age of 18. Please note that once a child account is created, it will not turn into a general Nintendo Account even once the user turns 18.

Click "Nintendo Account" in the upper-left corner of the screen to access your account settings. Select "Family group." Select the Nintendo Account that you want to set as a parent / guardian account. Parent / Guardian status can only be set to non-supervised Nintendo Accounts for users aged 18+.

Transferring game data

On the HOME Menu, select "System Settings" → "Data Management" → "Move Data Between System/microSD Card".

Removing the SD card without safely ejecting it while it's still in use can interrupt ongoing data transfers and corrupt files. So always eject the SD card safely from devices and protect data from being corrupted.

*Caution. Your save data will be deleted on the source console. *Save data is stored on the console you're currently using. In order to play games with your latest save data on multiple systems, you'll need to transfer the save data each time you use a different console.
