Hey! So recently I was looking to trade in my Macbook Air, and the website asked for my serial number. I tried entering the one I found in About This Mac, but it didn't work. I tried multiple times, but no success. I tried the serial number engraved into my mac but still didn't work. I tried going to Apple support to see if I could chat with someone, but to do that I need my serial number, which doesn't work. Is there any way I can fix the problem or get in touch with apple without my serial number?
Thanks :D
Also the model of my Mac is MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2015) and I am using the big sur beta.
MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.0

Serial Number Authenticity:
Try Entering your Serial Number Here: Check Your Service and Support Coverage - Apple Support. See if it comes up as a different device than what type of device you have, or if it is reported as a non-existent Serial Number. If either are the case, then something is just not right with the S/N you are seeing, and you need to contact Apple Support back.

Unfortunately, Apple offers no support if you are running a beta. You can try to call them (rather than trying online).
If the serial number is not available, I suspect that the logic board in your device was replaced at some point? If the new one is not registered with Apple, then there is no new serial number assigned to the device.

I didn't make a backup before i installed the beta, and I can't really erase everything cause I got school management on there and I would get in big trouble if I erased it.
Is this a problem?
Also would installing MacOS catalina from the app store work?

Yes. If this notebook is managed by your school's IT department, I'm a bit surprised you were able to install the Big Sur beta in the first place. There is no way to uninstall it without having to erase, and then, reinstall the previous non-beta macOS. You will need to deal with your school's IT staff for assistance with this.

In order to install anything, you will need to erase the device first. You cannot install any earlier OS version on a Mac without erasing the drive first. No one should install a beta without backing up first.

You did make a backup before you installed the beta, right? If so, yes, you can.
If not - no. In order to reinstall an older OS, you need to erase the drive.
