Hello all,
Trying to configure a pinhole in a wirless router so that I can get my site on the internet. I have acquired a static ip address, but need the pinhole to get to my default gateway machine. Trying to find out what ports easyphp uses.
Any ideas?
Regards to all,
Matt
You'll need to forward traffic on port 80 from the Internet side of your router to port 80 on the Moodle server on your LAN. 80 is the default port number for HTTP.
You could certainly use another port number, but unless there's a good reason to do so, you should probably stick with 80.

Hi Tony,
Thanks for that. I tried port 80 initially, but my wireless router wouldn't allow it. Tried many other ports and eventually stumbled across a setting on my router that allowed me to pass all traffic to a designated ip address on my LAN. This did the trick (just about an hour ago!). I now have it up and running.
Thanks again,
Matt

Matt,
What brand are you using? On my DLink 614+ (router/4 port switch/wireless access point) there is a "Virtual Server" option that is a little safer than opening a big hole (the "DMZ" on the Dlink) to your server on the local network. Look at your documentation for a similar option.
Cheers,
Bob

Thanks Bob,
Got it working, although I am a little worried about security, as I am new to all this. I have pointed the router traffic at a specific machine on my LAN, and all seems well.
Regards,
Matt
