Adolescence and early adulthood are just too exciting, no wonder most of us make several mistakes at a time like that. On Saturday 5th February 2022, KISTEC Students and Staff reflected on the Mistakes Most Young People Make and Regret later in Life. The main facilitator was the KISTEC Academic Registrar Mr. Mwinganiza Godfrey. At the end of the discussion, the following were identified to be the most common mistake made by young people.
- Young people spend money on trivial things.
- Young people think schooling is enough to get rich.
- Young people tend to give up easily.
- You people do accept whatever they hear and believe anything.
- Young people invest without research.
- Young people always want instant gratification.
- Most young people don’t save money.
- Young people try to please everyone.
- Most young people think that love alone is enough to sustain a relationship.
- Young people blame their parents for their misfortune.
If you’re still young, you’ll have the opportunity to correct some of these mistakes. The participants came up with resolutions to this effect as shared below.
- Delay gratification; don’t buy things because everyone is doing so.
- Learn how to save for investment and retirement purpose.
- Don’t believe everything. As questions and challenge the status quo.
- Don’t fall in love because of love alone. Think about values and compatibility.
- Don’t think you are education because you have a degree. Learn every day.
- Try things and don’t give up easily.
- Don’t blame your parents or Government for your failure, take responsibility.
