To assist in protecting the integrity of Saint Lucia’s financial system and to prevent its abuse by criminals through the detection and deterrence of money laundering and terrorist financing by collaborating with other law enforcement agencies, regulators and international counterparts
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
In order to achieve its mission of safeguarding the financial system from the abuse of money laundering and other financial crimes, the FIA has set the following strategic objectives:
- Capacity building in obtaining, analyzing, investigating and disseminating financial intelligence;
- Enhanced cooperation including strategic convergence with both foreign and domestic law enforcement and intelligence units;
- Broadening the awareness of the financial sector on AML/CFT matters through training programmes, issuing of guidance notes and also ensuring public awareness of ML/TF issues;
- Ensuring compliance with reporting requirements under the MLPA
- Building organizational resources and promoting excellence in the Authority’s work force and operations;
- Ensuring that the FIA is able to comply with its international obligations and meet the expectations of international bodies such as the Caribbean Financial Action Task Force and the EGMONT Group.
