“He’s insufferable,” my aunt said, an angry blush coloring her cheeks. She’d been venting about my uncle’s erratic behavior for almost an hour.
“I’m sorry,” I replied, unsure of what else to add. Though my uncle’s irritability was infuriating, it was also mind-boggling. Yes, he had always had a strong temper. But in the past year, he’d transformed into the movie stereotype of the grumpy old man.
“Everything I do is wrong,” my aunt went on. “Everything I say is wrong. It’s as if I have to walk on eggshells when I’m around him.”
