How do you manage revisions on a sheet in Revit? ›

Go to the Revisions tab. Here, select the sheets (a) you wish to apply a revision to and then select the revisions (b) to apply to the previously selected sheets. You can choose to override any existing revisions (c) . When you're ready, click Ok and sit back and relax while your sheets get populated with revisions.

Select the checkbox to include the revision in the sheets that do not have it. Select the corresponding Shown in Revision Schedule checkbox for each revision that you want to include in the revision schedule. To remove a revision from the selected sheet, clear the checkbox. Click OK.

Select the built-in link, “Revisions.” After reviewing the Properties, hit “o*k.” Hit “Export” to save the results to a new Excel file. Open that Excel file.

To Issue a Revision

In the Revit project, click View tab > Sheet Composition panel > Sheet Issues/Revisions. Alternatively, click on the Sheet Issues/Revisions tool from the Additional Settings drop-down in the Manage tab.

If the Revision Sequence associated with the Revision element has been issued then the option to delete will be disabled. To delete, the Issued checkbox for the associated revision would need to be unchecked. For more information on this process see the following help topic: Issue a Revision.

In a view, select one or more revision clouds, right-click, and click Hide in View Category.

To ensure proper revision control: Maintain the product record (designs, BOMs, parts, assemblies, etc.) in a single, centralized system so that the latest revisions are always accessible to internal teams and external partners. Assign all documents, parts, and assemblies a unique part number and version level.

Make a video. Another creative revision technique is to put together a revision video. Writing is not the only way to revise, so try engaging the creative parts of your brain to consolidate what you're learning into memory.

Click Annotate tab Detail panel (Revision Cloud). Revit enters sketch mode. On the Tools panel, click one of the draw tools. In the drawing area, place the cursor near the part of the view that has changed and draw the cloud to encompass the changed area.

How do I merge revisions in Revit? ›

In the project, click View tab Sheet Composition panel (Sheet Issues/Revisions). In the Sheet Issues/Revisions dialog, click the sequence number for the revision to merge with another.

New Revision sequences can be created by adding a NEW value in the Id column within an Excel file that has been created from the Revit Sample Link Files with Ideate BIMLink called Revisions-Create-NEW.

The revision number changes with every revision in the document. The Issue number may change at stages / frequency determined by the organization.
