Manage items in Google Wallet (2024)

You can add, move or remove cards, passes, tickets, keys and IDs in Google Wallet:

  • In the app
  • Online
  • In other apps with the 'Add to Google Wallet' option
  • Across other Google products like Gmail

Important: Items may be managed differently across different devices and applications.

Add items to Google Wallet

Add an item with the Google Wallet app

  1. Open the Google Wallet app Manage items in Google Wallet (1).
  2. At the bottom, tap Add to Google Wallet Manage items in Google Wallet (2).
  3. Choose the type of item that you want to add. You can add a:
    • Payment card
    • Transport pass
    • Loyalty card
    • Gift card
  4. To add the item to Google Wallet, follow the on-screen instructions.

Add an item with the 'Add to Google Wallet' option

If you're signed in to your account on the website or app while on your phone, you may find the 'Add to Google Wallet' option. This option lets you add a card or pass to Google Wallet directly.

Some examples of items that you can add to Google Wallet this way are:

  • Event tickets, like concerts, theatre performances and sporting events
  • Credit cards
  • Health passes
  • Transport passes or boarding passes
  • Campus IDs
  • Corporate badges
  • Hotel keys

To add a card or pass:

  1. Tap Add to Google Wallet Manage items in Google Wallet (3) Manage items in Google Wallet (4) Add to Wallet.
    • You may be asked to verify your identity with your screen lock or password.
  2. If you have more than one Google Account, choose the one that you want to save the card or pass to.
  3. Read and accept the terms.
    • If you have the Google Wallet app: the card or pass is added to your wallet.
    • If you don't have the Google Wallet app: you're prompted to download the app to continue. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Add items from Gmail

Important: If you delete the email with your pass, loyalty card or ticket, it is removed from Google Wallet. If you delete a Gmail message, it stays in your bin for 30 days. After that, the email is deleted permanently. You can add the pass again with the Google Wallet app.

To add an item from your Gmail inbox automatically:

  1. On your Android phone, open the Gmail app Manage items in Google Wallet (5).
  2. Tap Menu Manage items in Google Wallet (6) Manage items in Google Wallet (7) Settings Manage items in Google Wallet (8) the account that you want to change.
  3. To turn on data sharing, under 'General', turn 'Smart features and personalisation in other Google products' on or off.

Tip: If this setting is turned off, passes like loyalty cards, event tickets, boarding passes and more aren't imported automatically from your Gmail inbox.

Add items from a photo

You can save passes to Google Wallet from an image. Examples include:

  • Library cards
  • Gym passes
  • Parking passes

Add a pass from a photo

  1. Take a clear and high-resolution photo of the pass with your phone.
  2. Open the Google Wallet app Manage items in Google Wallet (9).
  3. Tap Add to Wallet Manage items in Google Wallet (10) Photo.
  4. Select a clear and large photo of the barcode.
  5. Add a name and description for the pass.
  6. Tap Add.
  7. To use the pass, select the pass and scan the barcode or QR code at a reader.

Tip: To view the original image used to create the pass, in the top right, tap Manage items in Google Wallet (11).

Add an item from a converted file

Important: A converted pass may be limited in functionality and you may not get updates about the pass.

You can save passes from different places online in Google Wallet. Some of the passes must be converted from their original format.

  1. To add the pass to Google Wallet, open the pass.
  2. Select Google Wallet.
    • To make the Google Wallet app the default, tap Always.
  3. Tap Continue.
    • You may have to verify your identity.
  4. Tap I understand.

Tip: After the pass is added, you'll find a confirmation message.

I can't add my pass to Google Wallet

If you get an error message when you save the pass, there's an issue with the pass. To resolve the issue, contact the pass issuer.

Add items from a barcode

You can save passes to Google Wallet from scanning a barcode. Examples include:

  • Library cards
  • Gym passes
  • Parking passes

Add a pass from scanning a barcode.

  1. Open the Google Wallet app Manage items in Google Wallet (12) .
  2. Tap Add to Wallet Manage items in Google Wallet (13) Photo.
  3. Take or select a clear and high-resolution photo of the pass.
  4. Add a name and description for the pass.
  5. Tap Add.
  6. To use the pass, select the pass and scan the barcode at a reader.

Move single device passes

Certain passes can only be saved to a single device or Google Account. These passes need to be saved with the Google Wallet app. To move them to a different device:

  1. Remove the pass from the current device or Google Account.
  2. Open the pass link from the new device.

Remove items from Google Wallet

Important: When you remove an item from your phone, smartwatch or the Wallet website, it's removed across devices.

Remove from phone

  1. On your phone, open the Google Wallet app Manage items in Google Wallet (14).
  2. Find the card or pass that you want to remove.
    • For cards, you may need to swipe left to find it.
    • For passes, you may need to swipe up to find it.
  3. Tap the card or pass.
  4. In the top right, tap More Manage items in Google Wallet (15).
    • For a card, tap Remove payment method.
    • For a pass, tap Remove.

To re-add any items that you have removed, follow the steps above.

Remove from smartwatch

  1. On your smartwatch, open the Wallet app Manage items in Google Wallet (16).
  2. Scroll to the pass that you want to remove and tap it.
  3. Scroll in the pass details screen.
  4. Tap Remove pass.

Remove from website

Important:

  • Only users in a supported country or region can access passes on the Google Wallet website.
  • Not all passes are visible on the website. Examples include:
    • Private passes, such as IDs and health insurance cards
    • Single device passes

To delete a pass:

  1. Go to the Google Wallet website.
  2. Select the pass that you want to remove.
  3. Click Remove.

Share passes, tickets and cards

You can share some passes from your Google Wallet to someone else's Google Wallet. To share passes, tickets and cards:

  1. Tap Share Manage items in Google Wallet (17).
    • You can share a pass if it has Share Manage items in Google Wallet (18) above it.
  2. Tap Share now.
    • Once you've shared the link, the recipient can forward it to anyone.
    • After you've shared the link, you can't unsend it.
