As the longest-running trading card game of all time Magic: The Gathering currently has over twenty-thousand unique cards that players can utilize in their decks. Cards come in a variety of forms and in a variety of rarities. While when the game was first started in 1993 every booster pack came with one rare card, in 2008 with the release of Shards of Alara, a new rarity was introduced: the mythic rare. When opening a pack of Magic cards, there is a one in eight chance that rather than a pack featuring a rare, it will instead include a mythic rare. Mythic rares are often some of the most powerful and mechanically complex cards in each respective set, making them incredibly sought after. So today, we're going to look at the mythics of Magics past and see which ten have been the most powerful!

Before we begin, we should clarify for the sake of this list, each card featured must have appeared as a normal mythic rare within booster packs, not as a special masterpiece card.
10 Snapcaster Mage
An iconic staple of the Modern format, Snapcaster Mage is a mono-blue wizard with flash for two mana. Upon entering the battlefield, Snapcaster Mage provides an instant or sorcery in its owner's graveyard with flashback until the end of the turn, allowing many of the best cards in a player's deck to be cast an additional time. While the card was originally printed as a rare in Innistrad, it has appeared as a mythic in each of its subsequent reprintings.
9 Bitterblossom
Like Snapcaster Mage, while Bitterblossom's original printing was as a rare, every time it has been reprinted since, it has been in the form of a mythic rare. A two-mana black enchantment, Bitterblossom causes its controller to lose one life at the beginning of each of their upkeeps, providing them with a 1/1 flying faerie token that can consistently be utilized in a wide variety of strategies, from aggro to aristocrats.
8 Cavern Of Souls
The only land on this list, Cavern of Souls was first printed as a rare in Avacyn Restored and has since seen several reprintings as a mythic rare. Upon entering the battlefield, this land's controller chooses a creature type.

While Cavern of Souls can be tapped to produce one colorless mana, it can also be used to produce one mana of any color as long as that mana is spent to pay for a creature of the chosen type. If it is, that creature can't be countered! This makes Cavern of Souls one of the best land choices in tribal decks of any color, preventing key cards from being countered.
7 Urza, Lord High Artificer

Printed as part of Modern Horizons, Urza, Lord High Artificer is one of the most blatantly powerful and pushed cards in recent memory. A blue legendary creature for four mana, Urza allows its controller's artifacts to be tapped to produce one blue mana, functioning as one of the best blue mana ramp cards of all time. In addition to this effect and the fact that upon entering the battlefield, Urza even creates an artifact creature token with proportional power and toughness to the number of artifacts its owner controls, Urza even comes with a place to sink all of this mana! For five mana, Urza allows its controller to shuffle their library, then play the top card without paying its mana cost!
6 Liliana Of The Veil
An iconic and powerful mythic first printed in Innistrad, Liliana of the Veil is an efficient three-mana black Planeswalker. Regardless of which of Liliana's abilities a player chooses to activate, this card will always disrupt one's opponents. WIth a +1 ability that causes each player to discard a card, Liliana's -2 forces an opponent to sacrifice a creature.

If an opponent makes the mistake of allowing this card to stick around, Liliana's ultimate -6 ability separates all permanents an opponent controls into two piles, causing that player to sacrifice all permanents in the pile of their choice.
5 Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer
The most recently printed entry on this list, Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer is an incredible legendary red creature printed in Modern Horizons 2. An economical 2/1 for a single red mana, not only does Ragavan generate a treasure token when it deals combat damage to an player, but it also exiles the top card of that player's library upon doing so, allowing that card to be cast by Ragavan's controller that turn. As if this weren't powerful enough, for players attempting to hide Ragavan from opponents' removal spells, this legendary monkey pirate has access to a dash cost of two mana.
4 Wrenn And Six
Appearing as a mythic alongside Urza in Modern Horizons, Wrenn and Six is a stellar two-mana planeswalker that needed to be banned in the Legacy format. Able to make repeated use out of the ever-popular fetch lands by returning lands to its owner's hand with its +1, this planeswalker's -1 can deal one damage to any target, making short work of utility creatures like Birds of Paradise. While less relevant than its other two abilities, this Planeswalker's ultimate -7 ability provides every instant and sorcery in its controller's graveyard with retrace, offering an ability comparable to that of Snapcaster Mage.
3 Mana Vault
Mana Vault is an incredible mana-producing artifact for one mana that can be tapped for three colorless mana. However, Mana Vault does not normally untap unless its controller pays four mana during their upkeep, taking one damage if this card is tapped. Despite this via the myriad of useful untap effects found on other cards as well as cards that cause permanents to tap for additional mana, with the right setup, this drawback is negligible.
2 Mana Crypt
By and large one of the best mana ramp spells in Magic's history, in recent years, Mana Crypt has seen a plethora of reprints, each at the mythic rarity. An artifact that can be played for free due to its mana cost of zero, Mana Crypt can be tapped to produce two colorless mana. This is a stellar advantage that has led to the card becoming a staple within the Commander format. While the card is "balanced" by having its controller flip a coin during their upkeep, taking three damage if they lose the flip, the value of this mana greatly outweighs this damage.
1 Force Of Will

While there are many powerful counterspells in Magic's history, few are as powerful as Force of Will. While the card predates the mythic rarity, every printing it has seen since the rarity's introduction has been as a mythic. While the card has a steep mana cost of five mana, this counterspell's mana cost can be ignored if its caster exiles a blue card from their hand and pays one life. This can allow a player to counter an opponent's first spell, even if Force of Will's caster has yet to play a single land.
