Reliability
Can Lodars reliability be affected by electrical noise or other transmissions?
No. We use a digital coding system, asking the Receiver to recognise a specific code from the Transmitter.
Will Lodar interfere with other emergency systems?
No. The digital coding system within Lodar controls that issue.
Will extreme weather impact on Lodar performance?
The system has been tested down to – 40ºC (- 40ºF) and up to + 80ºC (176ºF). It will work in these conditionsprovided that both the receiverand transmitter are both operating at the same temperature.
Is Lodar waterproof?
Lodar, although not “waterproof”, is sealed against foreign bodies and thus has been given an IP rating. All IP ratings can be found within the product description of your desired model.
What is an IP rating?
An IP rating refers to the product’s ability to withstand dust, water or submersion. Lodar’s product line includes IP ratings ranging from IP 54 to 68.
IP 54: Ingress of dust is not totally prevented but dust does not enter in sufficient quantity to interfere with satisfactory operation of equipment. Water splashed against the enclosure from any direction shall have no harmful effect.
IP 65: No ingress of dust. Water projected by a nozzle against the enclosure from any from any direction shall have no harmful effect.
IP 66: No ingress of dust. Water from heavy seas or water projected in powerful jets shall not enter the enclosure in harmful quantities.
IP 67: No ingress of dust. Ingress of water in a harmful quantity shall not be possible when the enclosure is immersed in water under defined conditions of pressure and time.
IP 68: No ingress of dust. The equipment is suitable for continuous submersion in water, under conditions specified by the manufacturer.
Battery
Which batteries are used?
Standard Transmitter – 1 x 9v PP3 Alkaline Battery
Mini Transmitter – 2 x 1.5V AAA Alkaline Batteries
IP Transmitter – 4 x 1.5v AAA Alkaline Batteries
How long does the battery last in the Transmitter?
The battery life with normal operation lasts between 4 – 6 months. The Mini Transmitter battery lasts between 3 – 4 again based on operation.
How do I know when to replace the battery?
The LED in the Keypad will flash rapidly.
Product
Could any other Transmitters work my Receiver?
No, each system is individually coded to ensure that only the designated Lodar Transmitter operates your receiver.
What happens if I lose my Transmitter?
Contact the person who sold you the unit, quoting the Model and Serial number on the Receiver. We will do all we can to minimise the impact on yourselves and resolve the issue as quickly as we can.
What is the range of Lodar?
We guarantee a maximum range of 200ft with standard product. In regards to narrowband products we guarantee a maximum range of 1000ft. The distances quoted are maximum ranges and various aspects will impact the range such as environment and equipment in use in the area.
Are there two systems, one for 12 volt and one for 24 volt?
No – the Receiver works from 9 volts through to 32 volts.
Installation
How simple is it to fit a 2 function Lodar system?
Lodar is very simple to fit in regards to a 2 function system there are only 4 fixing bolts, 4 connectors and instructions can be found on the product page.
How easy is it to fit other Lodar products?
2,4,6 functions all come complete with a wiring loom for quick installation.
10 plus functions do not come with a wiring loom due to a wide range of specifications and will require wiring.
