I would like to upload a 156MB mp4 file to iCloud; I get a
"..... your file must be smaller than 100MB."
Scouring the web I see conflicting info ranging from 50MB to 200MB file sizes that can be uploaded to iCloud.
What is the actual maximum file size that can be uploaded and if there is a specific procedure for uploading large files?
BTW - as a new user, is there a notification to the email or phone on file with Apple when there is a response to the posts?

Apple does not offer specific information about file size limits, so one can assume that if its saying it must be less than 100MB, that's what it should be.
For very large files, there are other services such as WeTransfer, though those generally have a cost for very large files.

- Storage restrictions on iCloud +I currently upgraded my iCloud storage to 2T. Yesterday while creating albums and uploading images/videos, I received a message stating my videos that were above 100MB would not be stored. Is there a different area where I can store this files in iCloud. For example, can I store them in iPhoto within a a folder rather than an album? Or can I store files larger than 100MB in my iCloud Drive? 12462
- This article says you can upload files up to 50GB to iCloud, but I appear to be limited to 10GB.This article says you can upload files up to 50GB to iCloud I am trying to upload a 15GB zip file to iCloud and I get an error message that says "...file is too big to upload. iCloud Drive on iCloud.com currently limits uploads to a maximum of 10 GB." Why is that? 6713
- I can’t upload a file bigger than 10GB to iCloud, why is this?I am using iCloud for windows on my Windows 10 PC. I have the app running in the system tray the whole time but whenever I want to upload a bigger file to iCloud, such as a video file, I don’t use the windows folder, rather I go to iCloud.com and go to the iCloud Drive section and upload it directly from there. I tried uploading a 17GB file (I have more than enough space) and I had a message in the website saying I cannot upload files over than 10GB. Not sure I had seen this before. Is there a way around this? Seems highly restrictive. Would transferring the file to the windows folder where iClouddrive is and let the app sync by itself be a solution? Or does the 10gb limit also affect that? Thanks for everything. 19672

You'll be able to upload the full video provided it is not in Photos. Syncing to iCloud Photos has the video limit of 100 MB each. Your iCloud Drive can handle any file so long as it is not larger than 50GB.

Thank you for your reply. I guess my best bet is to split up a 156MB video file into two files under 100MB each.
Thanks again and have a great Thanksgiving weekend.

Thank you.
Seems like I need to split up 150MB videos into smaller files in order to upload though the storage capacity is 2TB.

Only if your intention is to sync using Photos. Otherwise, you can upload the entire file directly into iCloud Drive. I have multiple video files uploaded with sizes that range from 1GB to 12GB
