Canada Day Career LearningsBeing born in this country has granted me privileges many individuals do not have.I've always been interested in a wide array and broad spectrum of topics and that's led me across a number of career opportunities from computer part sales, buy, strategic sourcing, resource acquisition, contract management, vendor management, procurement and now digital adoption specialist and technology enabler.Sometimes doing what you love may not pay well enough over a short horizon and ideally you can do what you love outside of your regular job until you've found a connection where it does match someone else's value.Tackling a number of activities, tasks and opportunities has always been core to my being and its helped in so many ways.For the 2nd half of 2024 I'll going to focus on one core practice and one creative practice and see what happens.

If networking isn't natural for you, that's about right.It certainly isn't easy for me and I'm still figuring it out.I appreciate connection and learning about people's experiences and perspectives and if people want to know me, I can field questions 😁.

Decision fatigueOnce you know it affects you, finding methods to address it can help you achieve that much more.

Part of the software adoption journey is sustaining the learning through avenues of interaction.Ideally in a consistent manner but given the volume of software titles were exposed to, it may not be practical.Next best thing is to know the colleagues and those in your network that are keeners in 3-5 titles that you're apt to be apprised of.I've doubled down on the Office productivity suite given its expansive set of apps and tools and robust capabilities. Being able to rapidly digest new information has enabled me to help those who aren't like me get that benefit.

One aspect of digital adoption is knowledge resets.A knowledge reset is a 30 minute small group meeting to go over the intent of the software title.Shared software foundations allow us to be confident we're on the same page and if we're not, how can we support each other.If you're ever looking for an external resource to facilitate a knowledge reset, connect and DM me. It sounds like a waste of time and maybe it is but what I've found is that these sessions open the doors to curiosity.

You can find inspiration when you're looking for it.Many of my colleagues and friends are trying new and different things out. Iterating, finding what works, what doesn't.Being on the journey.

It's hard to raise your hand to ask for help as we're grown adults with years of experience, trials, triumphs, and successes.Then you arrive at a point where 'help' isn't so much "help" but an accelerator or unblocker of your own understand and perspective.When you get there, it's a great thing.
