In his book, Simon Sinek argues that great leaders create an environment where their followers feel safe enough to open up and give their all on the job. He calls these leaders "servant leaders" because they put the needs of their people first.
Sinek begins by discussing the science of the human brain. He explains that we are wired for connection and that our brains release dopamine, a feel-good chemical, when we feel safe and connected to others. When we feel threatened or insecure, our brains release stress hormones that can make it difficult to think clearly and make good decisions.
