Gloria Estefan, Camila Cabello, and Kali Uchis will also take home awards in June
Karol G will be named Woman of the Year at the second annual Billboard Latin Women in Music 2024 ceremony on June 9. The singer, honored as Billboard‘s 2024 Woman of the Year in March, will be recognized for her “extraordinary milestones and unparalleled impact on the music industry.”
In addition, Gloria Estefan will receive the “Legend” award, Camila Cabello will receive the “Global Impact” award, Ana Bárbara will receive the “Lifetime Achievement” award, Ángela Aguilar will receive the “Musical Dynasty” award, Kali Uchis will receive the “Rising Star” award, and Kany García will receive the “Spirit of Change” award.
The Billboard Latin Women in Music 2024 ceremony will air exclusively on Telemundo at 9 p.m. ET on June 9, and will be simultaneously available on the Telemundo app and Peaco*ck. Additional honoreesare set to be announced for the awards, which debuted last year with Shakira as “Woman of the Year” and Ana Gabriel as “Living Legend.”
The Billboard Latin Women in Music Awards “recognizes the importance of Latin women in the music industry and honors those who have positively impacted Latin music and the industry the previous year.”
Last year, Karol G became the first female artist to top the Billboard 200 with a Spanish-language album with her LP Mañana Será Bonito. In March, she won her first Grammy for Best Música Urbana Album.
“This is such a beautiful thing,” the singer said during her acceptance speech. “My album has given me the best memories in my own life, my whole life — my fans that came and enjoyed my album, that gave motivation and inspiration and heal with me — thank you so much. I promise to give you my best always. And I hope that this is the first of so many. So thank you, everybody.”
The Colombian superstarrecently broke several records during her Mañana Será Bonito tour, a 12-country, 15-city tour where she sold more than a million tickets. Across her massive tour, Karol became the first Latina artist to sell out Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca three nights in a row. She also sold more than 100,000 tickets over two nights in Costa Rica, the most for an international tour.Trending
Additionally, Karol G became the first and only artist thus far to sell out Venezuela’s Estadio Monumental, the first female artist to sell out Estadio Nacional in Chile and became the first female artist to sell out two nights at Dominican Republic’s Estadio Olímpico.
After a successful run in Latin America, Karol G will bring the Mañana Será Bonito tour to Europe starting in June. She’ll stop in Zurich, Amsterdam, London, and Paris before headlining four consecutive nights at Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
