Is the $20 a Month for the Paid Version of ChatGPT Worth It? Yes, and Here’s Why! (2024)

The AI revolution is in full swing, with a mind-boggling number of free and paid tools available for any use. With so many free options available, are there enough benefits to paid tools to make them worthwhile?

I decided to find out. I tried the paid subscription tier of ChatGPT, one of the most popular AI tools, for twenty dollars per month. After testing out its capabilities, I think it’s worth the money for three reasons in particular:

1. Faster response times: Paid subscribers get quicker turnaround times, which makes the experience smoother and more efficient, especially during peak usage times.
2. Priority access: During high-demand periods, paid subscribers get priority access to the service. This means they’re less likely than unpaid users to encounter limitations, bottlenecks, or server load restrictions.
3. GPTs and AI tools created by other entities: Besides the base ChatGPT tool, paid subscribers can explore other tools with specialized uses, like Hot Mods, the GPT used to create the image for this article.

Contrary to what some might think, the “GPT” in ChatGPT isn’t a brand name. It stands for Generative Pre-trained Transformer, an AI model designed for natural language processing tasks. “Generative” means that the model can generate text in response to prompts, while “pre-trained” means that the model has been extensively trained on a text dataset before being released to the public. The final component, “transformer,” refers to a specific type of neural network architecture designed to handle text and manage the unique needs of language modeling.

The paid version of ChatGPT also features an “Explore GPT” section, where users can explore pre-built AI solutions for tasks such as art, writing, productivity, research and analysis, programming, education, and lifestyle. Here are three GPTs I am using regularly to accomplish sales tasks:

• PDF Insight: This tool summarizes a PDF into an easily readable overview. If you are quoting research or summarizing a company brochure as part of an executive brief, RFP, success story, or any other communication, this can save you time.
• Humanizer Pro: If you feel like ChatGPT responses sound too artificial, this tool can modify copy to give it a more natural feel.

If you’re still new to AI usage, diving into the deep end with a paid tool might feel like too much of a commitment. In my experience, though, ChatGPT’s paid tier is more than worth exploring because it expands what I can do as a sales pro with AI.
