Israeli Prime Minister
Benjamin Netanyahu and
Rabbi Shai Graucher
are giving away new iPhones to the country's soldiers. One of the models of Apple’s popular smartphones was able to stop a bullet to save the life of an Israeli soldier. The Cupertino-based tech giant claims that iPhones are rated against dust, water and even extreme temperatures. However, Apple has never shared if the device is bulletproof.
This is not the first time an iPhone was able to stop a bullet. In June 2022, an iPhone stopped a bullet to save the life of a Ukrainian soldier.
An X user named Living Lchaim took to the social media platform to share the latest story (seen by AppleInsider). The post shares that a soldier's iPhone stopped a bullet and saved his life.
Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu and Rabbi Shai Graucher paid a visit to the soldier and his unit in the hospital. They presented the soldiers with new iPhones.
How the iPhone saved the soldier’s life
The X post includes a video which shows the iPhone with a rugged case and a plastic backing. The bullet was able to go straight through the phone and push through the case. However, at this point, it had lost its momentum and didn't severely injure the iPhone owner.
The report didn’t confirm what iPhone the soldier was using. However, the phone shown in the video looks like an iPhone X that had a vertical camera bump. After surviving a direct hit from a bullet, the soldier now has the latest
iPhone 15
model.
While the iPhone and other Apple products have been known to save user's lives in the past, we're not certain that Apple will ever detail how bulletproof an iPhone might be.
